walmart raising minimum wage to 11$ per hour

You can thank the ACA for that shit. Everyone on the right predicted what would happen but you morons insisted on pushing rules that you were told would result in people being worse off. You guys never listen because you think you're smarter than everyone else. This is your mess

Sounds good EXCEPT,Republicans refused to participate

You should be cheering, you irrational walmart hater. You are beating the enemy! Too bad it causes people to lose jobs... Fuck em, right? Idiots worked for Walmart... what'd they expect

Fuck walmart for providing a service and employing people! Fuck them! If they can't afford to pay their employees a living wage they deserve to be out of business! Every other company manages to do it.
/sarc

FYI,Walmart isn't a victim!

Why single out walmart? Does Target pay higher wages? Can their employees afford care? And if someone is on medicaid, that's a function of our federal government so WTF does it have to do with employers/employees?

You rabid walmart haters are retarded

Has to do with Walmart abusing the system so employees stay on Medicaid, instead of a huge corporation paying healthcare for employees

They wouldn't need M-Caid if they lived within their means to begin with..........they can just go to the State Health Dept. and pay on a sliding fee scale if they must.

Walmart is just following the board of directors wishes. Seems none of them really care or cared about their employees well being.

if only they would heil Trump brother noise.

They have been fighting for minimum wage hikes for a while havent they?
I think you should be 'heiling' Obama. This happened under his watch. BTW....pay hikes have nothing to do with tax cuts. Salary is a business expense, which automatically reduces tax liability. As such, they would get a tax 'cut' simply by hiking employee pay.

But...Walmart raised pay in '15, and most of their employees are part time help.

The company announced a series of pay raises for its lowest paid employees in early 2015, which took the minimum pay for most employees to $10 an hour by last year, and the average pay for its full-time workers to about $13 an hour. Part-time workers are paid about $10 an hour on average.

BENTONVILLE, Ark., Jan. 20, 2016 – More than 1.2 million Walmart U.S. and Sam’s Club associates will receive a pay increase under the second phase of the company’s two-year, $2.7 billion investment in workers. The pay raise, which takes effect Feb. 20, will be one of the largest single-day, private-sector pay increases ever. As an industry leader for competitive pay and benefits, Walmart is also implementing new short-term disability and simplified paid time off (PTO) programs. The combined changes will expand support for associates dealing with extended health issues and provide associates greater control over their paid time away from work.

  • When these changes go into effect, Walmart’s average full-time hourly wage will be $13.38/hour. The average part-time hourly wage will be $10.58/hour.

The medium home price in the USA is $180K 20% down is 36K to scrape up on a Walmart net check of what, 800 bi weekly? What interest rate does $10 per hour and the associated FICO get? No idea.
In 1997 the share price was $11 now it is $100. They are rewarding the passive investor and corp magnates and punishing the poor slobs who toil their whole miserable lives there.

This is a formula where a Walmart employee cannot expect to participate in the American dream.

My advice, inherit wealth and buy Walmart stock. If poor? Drink heavily.

That is less than rent here.
Dumbass

Liar. You drunk ass mofo, I know without a doubt a studio or room or even a one bedroom costs far less than that. You can get that and more in Cali you dumb drunk. And no way your shit hole neck of the woods is more than Cali.

There's no question that the Obama administration pressured Walmart to increase wages/benefits, as they publicized the fact that WM employees typically got food stamps, and Medicaid. There's also no question that it worked, because in 2015 WM began the program that implemented wage hikes that are now being publicized as some sort of reciprocal action due to tax cuts.

And finally, there's no question that a $15/hr minimum wage is still not a living wage. Forget buying a home. Rent is not even covered by a typical minimum wage household.

im surprised there is so much negativity at people getting raises.

Liberals don’t believe in the free market. They believe in totalitarianism

Couple that with the fact that JPP libtards are predisposed to criticize Trump for EVERYTHING and Rancids posts are easily explained

Corporations exist for profit, that always cums first.

Of course they do. So do we. Even those who play the lotto are seeking a profit. It's the same thing employees and independent contractors look for. When they or we work, we are looking for a profit. If that profit affords us food, shelter and clothing then all's well. If we want or need more, then we either look for another job or take on a second one. I can't quite cover everything with my old-age S.S. check, so I have an independent contractor job plus make & sell homemade soap on Saturdays.

Naive answer, how would you like if you worked in a two person office you and your boss, you make minimum wage. You do most the work, and he makes 5 Billion a year.
You would be fine getting a part time job to make ends meet.

The boss is in charge. I have choices. Stay and like it, stay and hate it, take a 2nd job, leave. The key in life is be at peace with yourself in whatever situation you find yourself in. And, not to give others any responsibility, obligation or power over my life to make me miserable or happy. :)
