We can look at NCAA basketball and football and the various ways money ultimately gets to the players and their families even though it is illegal. Well, yes and no. It might be a pipe dream now that the Republicans have put a majority of the Supreme Court in place that has put the doctrine of unlimited money in place as a constitutionally protected right of the wealth. But it didn't have to be that way. When Carter and Reagan ran for president, both of their campaigns were entirely paid for by the $3 IRS box taxpayers volunteered - public financing. There were fewer than 1,000 lobbyists instead of 35,000 now. It could have been done.

W. was the first to not accept public financing during the primary in 2000 and Obama opted out of both the primary and general on '08.
 
Have not bothered reading the thread, just commenting on the title. Donna Brazile followed the trail of money and has shown the truth here. Brave woman. She should be applauded, not degraded for speaking truth.
