The shipping containers could be part of the restructuring plan, the citizens of PR could ban together by communities and pour the concrete (one house at a time), and the "slums" have to be cleared anyway.

Everything on Puerto Rico outside of tourist resorts are slums...............Now not all the slums are as bad as the worst, but without adequate infrastructure and access to real medical care, all of Puerto Rico is a slum.......................

The recent mass influx is because PR has been pretty much flattened.

I suspect that as things improve, a lot of them will be returning back to PR.


But then, this has nothing to do with the idea of using shipping containers as homes. :D

I have no idea. That video is just to help answer some construction questions. Obviously that example is of a full size home. But, smaller ones are perfect for temporary to permanent shelter that is cheap, efficient and hurricane-proof.

He's full of shit, there are just over 3 million people in Puerto Rico, so there are well under a million dwellings. The economy of Puerto Rico is classified as a high income economy by the World Bank and as the most competitive economy in Latin America by the World Economic Forum.

Nothing is hurricane proof about a cargo container, in fact a hurricane could move it miles, unless it is anchored down to a concrete footing, and even then it is not raised above the flood line. You seriously have no idea what the term hurricane proof means, in reality Richard Branson BILLIONAIR could not construct a hurricane proof home.
