Bannon has promised to primary every Republican who doesn't get on the trump train...which means almost every Republican will be primaried. Sure...the districts are pretty safely gerrymandered, but it's going to cost billions to 'save' incumbent Republicans.

Even if that were true (it isn't), that's what can happen when you're draining the swamp.
Swamp creatures are already falling on their swords by announcing that they won't seek re-election, and new blood is declaring their intention to run. That's not a bad thing.

DEMOCRATS pay lip service to ending the practice of gerrymandering, but it seems to be a goal of theirs in states where they don't control the legislature. Must be a coincidence.
FYI, the practice is named for Governor Gerry, a member of the forerunner of
DEMOCRATS - the party that enacted Jim Crow to deprive African-Americans of their rights.
With the Civil Rights Movement and passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, (which many
DEMOCRATS opposed) federal enforcement and protections of suffrage for all citizens were enacted. Gerrymandering for the purpose of reducing the political influence of a racial or ethnic minority group was prohibited.
After the Voting Rights Act of 1965 was passed, some states created "majority-minority" districts to enhance minority voting strength. This practice, also called "affirmative gerrymandering", was supposed to redress historic discrimination and ensure that ethnic minorities would gain some seats and representation in government (benefiting
DEMOCRATS). That is "reverse" discrimination, which disingenuous
DEMOCRATS try to portray in a virtuous light to obscure the fact that it is still discrimination.
In some states, bipartisan gerrymandering is the norm. State legislators from both parties sometimes agree to draw congressional district boundaries in a way that ensures the re-election of most or all incumbent representatives from both parties
In 2015, an analyst reported that the two major parties differ in the way they redraw districts.
DEMOCRATS construct coalition districts of liberals and minorities which results in
DEMOCRAT-leaning districts. Republicans tend to place liberals all together in a district, conservatives in others.
If
DEMOCRATS want to convince me that they want to end gerrymandering (they don't), they should introduce a Constitutional amendment to establish purely geographic district boundaries and push for ratification (they won't).
