The President better hope and pray the GOP doesn't lose the House in 2018

"Congress gives Trump a pass on releasing his tax returns"

“How can we debate tax reform proposals without seeing the president’s tax returns?” asked Rep. Bill Pascrell Jr. (D-N.J.), who sponsored the resolution. “Congress has the authority and the duty to obtain and review President Trump’s tax returns to ensure there are no potential conflicts of interest in the tax policies he is proposing.”

"Republicans saw it differently, calling the attempt to get Mr. Trump’s information an invasion of privacy. Need they be reminded that the person who sits in the Oval Office is not a private citizen"

At this point the numbers work against the Democrats, however if Congress continues to be as dysfunctional as it has a whole new ballgame could surface, one that could result in Mueller’s investigation being only the tip of the iceberg

His personal tax returns have ZERO to do with tax reform.

How do you know, if he calls for certain deductions how does the American taxpayer know that he isn't doing it to solely to maximize his own personal profits? We had prior Presidents' tax history to review any potential conflict of interest, here the Nation is flying blind

1. Any President would likely benefit from tax reform

2. You do realize Congress passes the bill and the President merely signs it. :pke:

3. Who cares if he personally benefits, is that illegal?

Do you really think there is going to be tax reform? This President hasn't accomplished a single major policy goal in almost 8 months. Why should anything change?
Furthermore, do we need tax reform?

No, a tax on high income earners would not benefit a President who is wealthy, as most are by just being President

Congress passes the bill, but the President is the one who introduces his plan to Congress, which usually is a major part of the process, remember, the President told us he had a tax reform plan waiting

And no cares if he benefits, but if he orchestrates tax reform to purposely benefit himself, that could be a major conflict of interest

Lastly, emojis are corny

ASPCA refuses to discuss feline health because their President refuses to put up his cat for public inspection!

That logic has broken this poor little kitty's brain, I hope they are proud of themselves.

Was that an attempt at wit?

You got to learn, conservatives aren't witty, just not in them

Yes, it is. Tax reform will most likely aid corporate America, and they don't need lower taxes. In fact many of them should be made to PAY their taxes.

This is quite honestly one of the stupidest things I have ever read. 400K a year does not make a person wealthy.

Again, so what? You make it out as if Trump is passing his own personal tax policy, when the reality is quite the opposite.

And no cares if he benefits, but if he orchestrates tax reform to purposely benefit himself, that could be a major conflict of interest

Are you for real? Are you actually suggesting a politician cannot put forth a bill that personally benefits them? And that to do so is some how a conflict of interest? Good lord forbid a black president (200 years ago) put forth an anti slavery bill, Archives would be howling about a conflict of interest.

No, your posts are. :pke:

Do we need tax reform? Is that a real question?

No, actually the topic was the consequences of the GOP losing the House in 2018, but, we do need some kind of attention paid to current tax law, and the President through out his campaign promised such, even echoed the same last August

You know I knew as soon as I authored the President as an example some conservative would jump in and tell me President's aren't millionaires, funny, did you think they were going to make their Presidential salary even after they left the White House? How many past Presidents can you name that are knocking on the poor house door? Beautiful

The President's party is in complete control, he has immense control over what gets done, just in the fact if he doesn't like it it ain't becoming a law. Did you take Civics in school?

Ethnics, if not law, dictate that a President can not approve something because it directly profits him personally. Haven't you noticed, every year another politician somewhere is put on trial for violating conflict of interests laws
