I'm using it strictly in terms of choosing to fight for an evil cause. On that level, it's accurate.
Comparisons in general are taken to extremes too often in political debates. I can compare Trump's use of propaganda and deceit w/ Hitler's, but people will immediately take it further than intended and claim I'm saying he's "just like Hitler" and a genocidal maniac.
The confederate soldier/nazi analogy only goes as far as what both groups fought for. That's enough for me. As I said yesterday, I'm not offended by Lee's statue - but I don't have ancestors who were slaves. I can't see the argument in keeping the statue up if that group of people sees the status & they are reminded of the torment that their ancestors went through. We're not losing any of our history by taking it down.
