Where are the protest bands and artists?

During the divisive period of Vietnam and civil rights movement many artists joined in countering fascism and Republicans and Nixon. Protest bands abounded. Woodstock.... poets... visual arts... much had a political strain. We live in such times now with protracted war, an šŸ¤”imperial šŸ· potus and a brain dead fascist Republican polity.

I'm disappointed the artists either don't exist in the folk blues soul and rock protest traditions or Madison Avenue doesn't see there is a need to elevate them.

Where have you gone joe DiMaggio?

I've often thought that. Since that was my generation and the music of my youth, I am biased. But the music of the late 60s and early 70s was the very best.

I like that music too, but there is no art imitating life going on. Protests have been constant since Sanders, operation Wall Street, police civil rights violations in Baltimore, gun nut in charleston, and now a plutocrat liar tv star casino potus who coordinated with Russians to beat the better democrat candidate who fills his cabinet with his unqualified kids, golfs all day, tweet nonsense all night, attack our press, our intelligence when it suits him...

Plenty to write about. Yet all pop culture reflects is pablum from telegenic kids warbling vapid pop.

A protest song is different than ripping your President on stage in a foreign country during war. Not to mention the type of music he's referencing isn't the same audience as country

What happened to the Dixie Chicks was embarrassing. They can rip the President wherever they want to. And yes, you can say people can boycott them as a result, and they can - but I'd rather see them offer up a better idea, rather than just trying to shut them up.

And all of those idiots were wrong; there is no disputing that now, at all. In hindsight, by shutting down the voices of opposition, all they were doing was perpetuating a mistake - and it was a mistake that hurt a lot of people.

Vietnam was the socialist democrat pig, LBJ's war. Nixon ended it!!! The college/artist protests were because of the DRAFT. Nixon ended it!!! The socialist democrat pigs have always been the party of racial hatred!

The fascist pig Obama could have never got the ACA passed if he had told the truth .... you will lose your doctor, you will lose your insurance, your rates will go up, and it's the largest tax increase in history, not a fee.
