Where are the protest bands and artists?

Bwa ha ha do some research!

The charges of Wayne being a “draft dodger” are not new and with a simple Google search one can find any number of far left types absolutely blowing their “peace and love” credentials over Wayne and his lack of service in World War II. The truth is far more complex and even “hidden in plain sight” than one would think.

Upon graduating from Glendale High School in 1925, Wayne applied to the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, hoping to live out his dream of being a career Naval officer. He came close but was instead chosen the first alternate candidate.

By the start of World War II Wayne had been suffering for years from a badly torn shoulder muscle incurred in a body surfing accident that cost him his football scholarship at USC in 1927. He also had a bad back from performing his own stunts during ten years acting in “B” Westerns. Moreover, he suffered from a chronic ear infection, resulting from hours of underwater filming on Cecil B. De Mille’s Reap the Wild Wind in 1941. Had Wayne actually undergone a pre-induction physical, he might indeed have been classified 4-F.

This doesn't matter; because there will be liberals who will willingly believe what they want, regardless of the truth.

Iam hoping we ain't gonna send another 5k to Afghanistan..I mean we probably will, and it's an effective way to grind up ISIS/Taliban... but at some point we need to just leave Wakistan

Who will they protest against? Their foes are not the government, it's their neighbors.

No, I'd just like to see what is supposed to be art elevate its game. Popular music used to have a counterculture element to it. This feels like the music of our times has reverted to the Reagan era ethos. There appears to be a disconnect.
Music used to be left of center, a bit dangerous. Now its misogynist rap or bubble gum worthy garbage. I know there are many artists with a conscience now, they just aren't popular. I don't know where the fault lies, I just noticed the disconnect.
I thought it was thread worthy.
Whereas Dogshit is one of the more delusional conservatives here, he made a valid point.

Society has changed. Kids were being ripped from their homes via the draft to go fight another U.S war of aggression. Kids were worried that they'd be scooped up in the mess, and they took to the streets. Bands did indeed have a cause to write about. My Lai massacre was a turning point for the propaganda movement that permeated nightly news. Feds couldn't fabricate numbers, and concoct fantasy 'wins' aimed at keeping the citizenry quiet.

Kent State was the last straw.

Dixie Chicks simply stated that they were embarrassed by Bush...as we all were. But there were similarities to the Vietnam era. 'Going to war with the army you have, as opposed to the army you want' began another round of families being torn apart for another war of aggression. Mothers were being torn from their babies, and being dragged back into service after having finished their service. (or so they thought)

Fact is, our wars of aggression are fought by 'others'. Nobody fears for their lives anymore. Our country is so polarized, speaking out against war is now criticized by half of the population, but only when the other side is in White House.

John Wayne was a racist piece of shit and a tool for McCarthy.

And you know what they've un-covered about the latest crowd:

"The intellectual vacuity of today’s under thirty set reveals the disturbing and, ultimately, incontrovertible truth: cyberculture is turning us into a nation of know-nothings."

Can a nation continue to enjoy political and economic predominance if its citizens refuse to grow up?

For decades, concern has been brewing about the dumbed-down popular culture available to young people and the impact it has on their futures. At the dawn of the digital age, many believed they saw a hopeful answer: The Internet, e-mail, blogs, and interactive and hyper-realistic video games promised to yield a generation of sharper, more aware, and intellectually sophisticated children. The terms “information superhighway” and “knowledge economy” entered the lexicon, and we assumed that teens would use their knowledge and understanding of technology to set themselves apart as the vanguards of this new digital era.

That was the promise. But the enlightenment didn’t happen. The technology that was supposed to make young adults more astute, diversify their tastes, and improve their verbal skills has had the opposite effect. According to recent reports, most young people in the United States do not read literature, visit museums, or vote. They cannot explain basic scientific methods, recount basic American history, name their local political representatives, or locate Iraq or Israel on a map. The Dumbest Generationis a startling examination of the intellectual life of young adults and a timely warning of its consequences for American culture and democracy.

Drawing upon exhaustive research, personal anecdotes, and historical and social analysis, Mark Bauerline presents an uncompromisingly realistic portrait of the young American mind at this critical juncture, and lays out a compelling vision of how we might address its deficiencies.

The Dumbest Generation: How the Digital Age Stupefies Young Americans and Jeopardizes Our Future (or, Don't Trust Anyone Under 30)
