While I disagree with her almost 100% on politics, she is more honest, sophisticated, clear thinking and intellectually consistent than any other Conservative on this board.

Ok, well start from there. I am a "smallest government as possible" federalist.
I do not want expansive federal powers, i espouse the 10th as you do -but you have to be practical as well.
It's better for society a a whole to have everyone covered by at least catastropic.
That means I am not paying for your hospital bill -you are by your insurance.

Once you get there -you realize not everyone can pay,and that's where Medicade comes in play.
Once you accept Medicade is necessary, then your principled opposition is compromised.

The last thing I want is more federal gov't spending..it's trainwreck in the making.
But it has to be done,and that's where the General Welfare clasue comes in

When you evolve enough to realize that money spent on health is NEVER wasted, you'll feel silly about having said this. It's always easy to point fingers at others when you don't have the real life experiences necessary to develop an informed opinion.

Ok but using this type of logic couldn't it be argued that money spent on defense is never wasted? Or education?

She's an idealist no doubt but there are hundreds of thousands of liberal kids on college campuses throughout this country who are idealists as well with no clue how the real world works. It's why so many conservatives were liberals in their youth. They hit the real world and moved right politically

of course there is waste on health spending..look at the overhead ( paperwork).

Single Pay would have helped standardize coding - the Dem's didn't push it, and the Repub's were focused on killing Obamacare..so here we are

Money spent on education always pays dividends. Money spent on weapons always brings destruction, and profits to corps. who own the govt.

We all want to feel 'independent' when we're 20. I applaud you for your ability to debate in an adult manner. What I'm saying is, you aren't taking the big picture into account.

Who bought the livestock that was sold to fund your college? Who bought your horse, etc? Who put a roof over your head during the time you were doing all of the things that led to the funding of your education? And, who pays for your healthcare?

None of us are truly independent. That's why society is such a wonderful thing. My insurance rates have been through the roof since the time your parents were kids. I never had claims, because I am very healthy. Last year I had a serious accident that would have been devastating if I didn't have insurance.

So..it's safe to say that I've been funding other peoples' insurance claims for decades. That's how cost sharing works, and it isn't only prevalent in insurance.

There is always money wasted regardless of what it goes towards. I wasted about $80 on tack that I didn't need the other day. Do you honestly think that out of the billions going towards things like healthcare and education that there's not waste? That every dollar spent is justifiable or responsible?

You're talking about efficiency, which is exactly what ACA is about. But you don't know about ACA, rather, what the talking points are from Conservatives.
