I think the immigration laws should be changed, regardless of how and when you got here you should be allowed to apply for citizenship or legal residency and have the same set of criteria apply.
This is stupid; if someone is breaking our laws to be here, they should not be able to get ahead of those who are following the law and waiting.
However, for those who have been allowed to stay here illegally by Liberal Democrats and have obeyed our laws and paid their fair share of taxes, there should be a way to place them at the back of the line to eventually get citizenship.
I don't believe that totally controlling any of our borders is realistic, it is both cost prohibitive and counterproductive.
So your view is to just open them up.....after all, you can't defend them right?
Dunce.
The fact is that people will come her illegally. Once they are here if there is not a way for them to then apply and become "legal" there will always be an enslaved underclass afraid to seek legal protection, they will be taken advantage of by Corporations and gangs. They will produce an underclass of children who were raised in poverty and did not get educated well enough to be profitable Americans, they will raise children who saw America take advantage of their parents.
Thank your side for setting that fail scenario up with their asinine sanctuary cities and giving them drivers licenses and food stamps.
At no time in history has it been beneficial to society or culture to have a legally unprotected underclass who were enslaved.
Wrong; at no time in history have we ever had a policy that welcomes the losers and dregs of other nations here with sanctuary, drivers licenses and food stamps. Not to mention those who are now on Obamacare at the expense of the American taxpayers.
How do we solve the problem? By implementing a REAL green card policy that has an ID picture on it and can easily be verified on-line with the internet.
The Government, run by liberals, appears to be the only entity that cannot figure out how to use the internet for a coherent enforceable immigration policy.
