Trump just euthanized Obamacare........At last the poor kitty is out of her misery

FORBES: Why The Republicans Don't Have An Obamacare Replacement Plan

Do you think it is a bit strange that after 7 years, Republicans in Congress still don’t have a replacement plan for Obamacare? Or that they now tell us that developing one will take 3 or 4 more years. And of course, once they have a plan it will take state governments and insurance companies two or three more years to phase it in. So, we are looking at a decade’s delay. That’s if we are lucky.

Suppose the tables were turned. If Obamacare were a Republican reform and Democrats controlled Congress, how long would it take the Democrats to come up with a better plan? They’d do it in a heartbeat. They would do it by doing what Democrats are traditionally good at: putting ideology aside and finding solutions that make all the major stakeholders better off.

Why can’t Republicans do that? Because they don’t know how to put ideology aside and they are unable to honestly communicate with their base on what Obamacare reform really means. The result is a series of Republican plans with elements that almost all Republicans have already said they won’t vote for.

Here are three huge mistakes that make most Republican reform plans politically impossible.

1. Turning 23 million people into anti-Republican voters.
2. Imposing a Republican Cadillac plan tax on blue collar workers.
3. Shifting burdens from the wealthy and the special interests to the middle class.

---

One way to think about Obamacare is to see it as a giant exercise in burden sharing. Whether you think it was fair or not, everybody had to give up something. That’s not true of the Republican proposals, which are overly friendly to K Street and the top 1 percent and decidedly unfriendly to the most vulnerable in our society.

Go ahead and repeal it. Democrats are daring you to.

1) Are you saying those 23 million would have voted for Republicans at all?
2) Shouldn't those that want the government to be involved in their healthcare fund it instead of getting subsidies paid by someone else?
3) Why should the burden to provide yourself healthcare be one anyone but yourself?

Trump speaks with top Dem about high drug prices

President Trump told Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) at an inaugural luncheon Friday that the two needed to meet about the high cost of prescription drugs, according to a Cummings aide.

Cummings is one of the most outspoken lawmakers in favor of government action to fight high drug prices. Trump’s apparent willingness to work with him on the issue is a further sign that the new president is upending the usual GOP position against government action on drug prices.

The conversation between Trump and Cummings was first reported by April Ryan of American Urban Radio Networks.

Cummings has repeatedly teamed up with Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) to introduce legislation to fight high drug prices. In 2015, the two lawmakers introduced a bill to allow Medicare to negotiate drug prices and encourage the importation of lower-cost drugs from Canada.

Trump has echoed some of those calls himself.

At a press conference earlier this month, Trump attacked pharmaceutical companies and repeated his call for Medicare to negotiate prices, a position most Republican lawmakers oppose.

"The other thing we have to do is create new bidding procedures for the drug industry, because they’re getting away with murder," Trump said then.

This is an example of what I thought was inevitable at some point but I didn't expect it to happen so quickly lol.

What leftie can be against lowering high drug prices? How are they supposed to maintain their outrage when Trump starts advocating Bernie-esque policies?

Which I'm sure are going to go over real well with his moron base. :0)

It doesn't matter what Trump does, his opposition won't rest until he's gone.

Just consider what republicans did to Obama and you'll figure it out .. only in their case, they never got rid of Obama.

if it's unfocused rage now -why would it need be focused as time goes on? They're mad as hell -they just don't know exactly why
( Russians/Comey/E.C./Tard -whatever)..

But this whole thing is up in the air - i mean Trump is still doing ceremonials today, while the whack jobs froth..

we're going to have to wait and see what happens - even in an age of instantaneous communication it's going to take deliberation

The Right has had 7 years to come up with a better plan, yet they still can't figure it out.

This plays right into the hand of democrats.

Repealing Obamacare could cost 3 million jobs, study finds
http://money.cnn.com/2017/01/05/news/economy/repealing-obamacare-jobs-lost/

How long do you think it will take before republicans turn on Trump?

the better plan is to not have one at all, which was (in case you forgot) the true nature of things up until just a couple of years ago.

I don't care about taker proles dying.

3 million jobs from Obamacare? sounds like bullshit. Were 3 million jobs created after obamacare was put into place? Where did said jobs come from and why were they perfectly fine before obamacare but now in grave danger?

"they're going to have to pass it to see what's in it..." (replacement)

who knows - Obamacare was blowing out on costs - it did give insurance to many who would not qualify -
bu it made it un-affordable for others. so lets not go there as it was all fine and dandy.

SP would have solved all this-but no one except Bernie really pressed for that.

Is Trump advocating Medicare for all?

" Democrats had the vote " T #36

If you say so.

"so they got what they wanted."

Not necessarily.
President Obama was a pragmatist. I don't think he sought more than he thought he could achieve.

I suspect Obama would have preferred single payer.

I'm not saying they tried and failed. It's the opposite.
I suspect they did NOT try, for fear of failing.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX LET'S CUT TO THE CHASE XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

The per capita healthcare costs in the U.S. are not the lowest in the world. And
the life expectancy and infant mortality rates in the U.S. are not the best in the world.

Obama wanted to improve it.
Several sources have reported Obama got about 20 million additional citizens on healthcare coverage.

"so they got what they wanted."

I don't think so.
And I doubt Speaker Ryan, Majority Leader McConnell, and President Trump will all be deliriously happy with whatever they come up with, if anything.

They've had 8 years to work on it.

But "the devil's in the details."

The notion that they'll all reach unanimity without contention on any detail is I suspect a pipe dream.

the healthcare bill passed without a single republican vote. You want to get its successes and you do when you claim that lots of people are insured now. Though I suspect some of them did not want it and had to be forced by the individual mandate. If you get its successes you also get its failures.

You are not the only country that has a thriving pharmaceutical industry. Germany, the UK, Switzerland, India, Italy and France all have as well.

the pharmacetuical companies are on the record saying that they can only research new drugs because of the high prices they charge the US. They cannot recoup their costs in other countries because of price caps.

Without any question whatsoever.

Perhaps you think I'm an ACA fan.
I can't imagine why you would assume that. Do YOU have any idea why you would assume that?

When it's all said and done, this is what the Shlumpublican "Shlumpcare" health care reform plan will amount to....

...then they'll walk away from it, patting themselves on the back and telling us what a great job they did with their idiot drooler sheep followers crowing and cheering in agreement.

So watch your mail for the arrival of YOUR 10% off coupon!!!! :good4u:

Obamacare will never be replaced, because it was the moronic dream of a moron. It was doomed to failure before it was even enacted, which is exactly what the GOP said. Trump will put it out of it's misery, and not replace it, because it NEVER SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE FIRST PLACE..................

And the Republicans swore up and down in the 1990's that a very similar plan was just what America needed in place of Hillarycare.

They loved the idea right up until the moment a black Democrat President co-opted it.

Then it suddenly became a cancer on mankind. The most poisonous piece of legislation ever enacted by any govt in the history of the world.

And useful idiots like you dutifully nodded your empty little heads and made the little peanut rattle inside, which amused and entertained you, so you kept on nodding in agreement with the evil fucks who only care about power and don't mind lying and leading idiots around by the nose to gain and keep it.
