Donald Trump Praises Saddam Hussein

Why do you think he's just talking about "outside of America"?

His comments are consistent with everything else he has said about how ridiculous it is that we have any kinds of rules. Trump is truly Machiavellian, at least in his rhetoric. He doesn't believe America should stand for much in the world; he has advocated torture, killing families of terrorists & abandoning rules of engagement. The comment about reading them their rights was just another jab at the silly notion that we should have any rules at all.

Tell me what the context was Thing. If you don't understand context, I'll look it up again and explain it to you.

Sorry, didn't see this before I posted. Yeah, we don't give people we drone any rights or trials do we?
we're in a state of (perpetual) war. Legally the Authorized Use Of Military Force (AUMF) passed for the Iraq war is still in effect.

Obama wanted an update, but Congress didn't want to restrict,,. blah blah -here's the best read on it.

Why the White House Wants an AUMF, and Why It’s Not Going To Happen
http://www.theatlantic.com/politics...-aumf-and-why-its-not-going-to-happen/450858/
Former Senate Foreign Relations Chairman Robert Menendez nicely summarized the problem Monday night: “The big debate here is between a universe, mostly Republicans, that wants to basically say, 'Here you go [Obama], you have the wherewithal to do anything you need'—you know, an open-ended authorization—and Democrats who don’t want to see another Iraq or another Afghanistan in terms of an open-ended military [engagement]; they want to tailor it more. When you get to tailoring it more, you have a Republican universe that says, 'No, we ... think that by tailoring it, you’re controlling an executive and you’re hamstringing him.'”

Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn said that despite Obama’s call for a new AUMF on Sunday night, he sees no shift in Congress’ outlook on the issue. “Our Democratic friends want to use an AUMF to tie the hands of the next president and that doesn’t strike me as a good idea.”

In terms of whether we shold have over-thrown Saddam or not -absolutely 100% the Iraq war was/is a colossal failure.
It's how ISIS came into being - beforehand the Baathists/Saddam were content to kill Kurds, and run a rogue regime.

Now Iraq is a colony of Iran -fractured and a" jihadist wonderland" ( Rand Paul) as is Libya.
We did this.

Much as I opposed the 2003 war, it is true that it would have been far better if they had followed the State Department plan for the aftermath. The worst mistake was disbanding the Iraqi army, that was sheer lunacy. There is a good article today in Guardian with Paul Bremer about it. Will try and get it, not near a PC at a so will use the phone.

OK. yes disbanding the army was the coup de grâce in terms of ousting the officer corps; but I tend to think the decapitation of Sadaam
was going to throw the county into chaos anyways.. I'll look at it though -thanks

I wish people here could have a serious discussion about Trump's behavior. In my view, watching his campaign appearances, he is becoming angrier and more unhinged daily. At times he appears nearly completely incoherent to me.

Is there something seriously wrong with this man?

I'm surprised someone as classy as you and rana bother with these conservatard clowns.
Just know you both are teaching political ignoramuses like me a lot!

Me too and I find the idea of him as President terrifying. I personally believe he would be impeached early on, they'd have to do something to get rid of him IMO, but who knows.

I totally disagree, he mostly hot air.
I can't imagine him being dumber than bush!

Everyone else just fell in line for fear of being called traitors and unAmerican, we didn't care! I am proud of us!

And democrats trying too puff up for fear of looking weak!
I was against it from day one, based on not my sons, for that. No freaking way

Hey you turned me on to Bloomberg finance news too!
CNBC conservatard trump asslicking gets annoying quickly.

Oh really! isn't it much better? The BBC has better news too. Much more comprehensive. Here everything seems to be the same idiots with different faces saying the same things about the same 2 topics. It's exhausting.
