Conservatives' Message: Character Doesn't Matter

Once upon a time, we called it “the character issue.” It was a major part of the conservative attack on Bill Clinton in the 1990s: He was a draft-dodging adulterer and therefore unworthy of the office of the presidency. Most conservatives are making a different judgment about Donald Trump. He too avoided the draft, and he has even bragged about affairs with married women. But conservatives are supporting him...

...The point is not to extenuate Trump’s faults but to understand how millions of voters see him. This line of thinking itself represents a new lowering of public standards.

Trump’s success in the presidential race so far reflects a cultural rot: It would once have been impossible for someone like him to win the nomination. But it also deepens that rot. If we elevate a man we know to be cruel, impulsive, insecure, vain and dishonest to the most powerful position in our country, that choice helps to define our own character and shape our expectations for one another. It also means that our political debate will be dumber, nastier and more content-free.

The Republicans have been screaming about character every time Hillary's name comes up, then they went and found the candidate with the worst possible character.

How many Trump employees died when he refused to provide security ?

Four folks died when Trump refused to provide security, hack.

For a period between 2008 and 2011, one in every eight murders in Atlantic City took place at Donald Trump's Taj Mahal casino. During that period, there was not a single slaying at any other casino in the city.

The staggering number of homicides apparently stems from slashes to the Taj's security budget, which left one guard to patrol the casino's 11-story garage as well as the entire perimeter of the property, two surface parking lots, valet parking areas, porte cochere entrance, and the bus lobby.

Four people were killed at the Taj Mahal over the course of those three years, during which the average number of homicides in the city was only 11.

This is a valid point you bring up, speaking to conservative hypocrisy. But it begs the question, why is conservative hypocrisy somehow worse than liberal hypocrisy? Hillary Clinton once said the needs of society ate greater than the needs of the individual. Yet, she is a multimillionaire. Don't see any evidence of her putting society's needs ahead of her own. Morgan freeman, devout liberal who has endorsed hillary, paid his wife 480 million as her half of their divorce settlement. Meaning he could have given every man, woman and child in the United States a million dollars and still been wealthy beyond all imagination. I have alot of liberal friends who preach about government programs needing to do more to help the poor and struggling, but they themselves have never donated one red cent or volunteered any of their time to the cause. They preach free speech open mindedness, and anti-censorship and then when trump says things they don't like, they attack police or civilians, set stuff on fire and basically any thing else they can to forcibly shut him up. They preach about more government in the same breath as more freedom. All of these seem, possibly just a little bit hypocritical. Both sides are, and then to make the hypocrisy complete, they are convinced it's only the other side that does it. I'm no trump supporter but let's don't have two rules, one will be plenty

Let's all think about this for a moment.
