there are spotty successes like gentrification, but that generally prices out the existing residents.
It takes systematic renewal -the fed;l gov't fails completely. we don't invest in infrastructuire, we ship good jobs overseas,and companies move to Mexico/overseas..I haven't seen a lot of urban renewal success.

Wages have grown in the past while our population increased. You think closing the border and reducing trade is going to increase wages. Not in this day and age.

yes while the supply of jobs increased as well. Now we are doing everything we can to increase supply of labor (illegals) and reduce the demand of jobs (outsourcing h1b) = disaster.

im a trump type I take what works from both sides. Free markets worked when the US was the only developed country, when others were devastated by wars and stuff. Now that they have caught up it doesnt work so well anymore. The best thing is we still have all the leverage because the US market is the most desirable because of everyones easy access to credit (and the spending power that brings).

I talk about Baltimore because I'm familiar..
They have the Inner Harbor ( inner city) it's fabulously successful - it has revitalized the area around the inner harbor..

But 1-2miles out there are blocks of blight, crumbling streets/buildings/ it looks like a war zone. Maybe not Syria, but ....
So what good does it do for the residents?

There are the service jobs, the stadiums for the sports teams -but death rates are higher,poverty rampant..
drug dealing by those who can to survive...that's what we're up against..
