It must be a magical time to be a racist

If it's anything like Baltimore, those projects are going to be supported by suburbanites..

Inner cities have blighted housing, poor health care, poor job opportunites , systemic poverty..maybe some educational opportunities..maybe

It takes more then a few projects inserted into Detroit to turn it around

because we outsource everything and hire illegals and h1b to do the rest. :good4u:

I'm saying he has the magic Trump brand, or so he claims, why can't he put his money where his mouth is. If he believes in making America great again, he can be the catalyst to the reseeding of the inner cities.

Being snarky about Trump doesn't offend me but that's a lack of economic understanding

Most young people live at home so they don't have to support themselves. The minimum wage was never suppose to be a wage for a grown up to live off of

That was then, this is now and service jobs are now the majority of our jobs, and education is costly, so, minimum wage jobs are now held by adults and sometimes, they have to have two or three minimum wage jobs to exist.

honestly i sometimes find neocons more acceptable because they know they are doing things purely for greed. They do it with full knowledge and thought. Libs just kinda destroy things because they dont understand causality.

Ok, the trade off you are willing to accept then is increased automation for these jobs and less minority youth getting entry level jobs.

Then Trump's bs is a lack of economic understanding, because he is claiming he can do Herculean things and I am claiming that if he can claims he can make American great, again, he needs to start in Detroit.

You don't fix Detroit by building a hotel there.

well that is certainly something, but not what ails inner cities. Blighted poverty of despair is more like it..

where do you think the blighted whatever of whatever comes from? If you ship out the factory then the companies that service them go out of business then the companies that service them then the people who provide goods and services to the people who used to be employed all the way until it reaches your inner cities. The lack of jobs then leads them to join gangs. Trust me that was not their first choice.

You know trumps answer to how to fix the race problem? Provide jobs. It solves so much in this day and age.

what is the Democrats urban policy?? O'Malley to his credit ( former mayor of Baltimore) had a policy that could be used nationally..

What is the Dems?? do you know how much money the state of Maryland continuously pumps into Baltimore?
Millions for education, millions more for housing - and does it ever get any better?

Inner cities lack real job opportunities -our manufacturing base is gone -service just doesn't pay..
So.."creating jobs" (Trump) is actually a plan - as much of a plan as pumping more money into hopeless blight as Dems..

Get real. Nobody has any long term plans - Baltimore is now buying up blighted housing by the block!
Spending millions moer to create greenfield and new business..will it work? not with the murders and high crime

It's going to take real planning, and not stop gap measure ..

exactly..well said..

thats actually fine. Lets say you bring back fully automated jobs from china. For arguments sake lets say its a mobile phone factory. Your not going to source your silver and other raw materials from cheng du or wherever. You need a shorter supply chain because you dont want to keep too much inventory and your risk assestment is 10X more complicated shipping it from there. So that factory creates many new jobs in industries that need to service it to keep it running. That factory also still requires some humans even if only in manegirial , security, and IT roles so it still creates jobs.

Im summarizing here but there are lots of benefits to brining back fully automated factories.

If automation is going to happen and it will, business wants to create the false hope in the laborers that if they keep the wages low, automation won't happen, and we know that is just not so. The laborers should demand the wages they need to have a decent standard of life for a person who labors for 8 hours a day until the businesses automate.

We're talking about minimum wage jobs in the U.S.

It's going to happen much quicker at higher rates. If you are ok with that and ok with less jobs available for minority youth then support the increase.

You get real, there are urban renewal projects that work, your bias just doesn't allow you to see that it does and has happened.

ya i am too. look you have this automated factory it still creates these minimum wage jobs. Some in the factory itself (like security, maintenance, and sanitation), some in the industries serving the non minimum wage people it hires (the IT doods and managers need barbers or whatever), some in the industries that have to provide the raw material for the factory to work (and the truckers that have to transport it)

If you look at the economy as a whole these fully automated factories still create jobs it is just spread over different locations.

You get real, there are urban renewal projects that work, your bias just doesn't allow you to see that it does and has happened.

which you then give to illegals and then outsource even more to take away more jobs than you put in. :good4u:

What's his bias? He described exactly what has happened in Baltimore. What do you think Baltimore is doing different than what he stated?

to increase wages you have to decrease the supply of labor and increase the demand of jobs (more jobs less labor)
