Racist statements lead lawmakers to reject John Wayne Day

There are steps on the trolling pyramid- with you at its apex.

Are your feelings still hurting where I got you to admit you were a piece of shit? Saying that your determination of whether or not someone was a troll has nothing to do with their agreement with you makes you a lying piece of shit. That you're pro-Palestinian already gave that away.

Sitting on that peak must be influencing your fecal fetish, troll.

What complete nonsense. You can take any blurb out of context or through an anachronism and paint them to be a racist. Darwin was an abolitionist whose scientific work refuted the commonly held racist beliefs of his time and opposed already existing eugenic concepts. It is, in fact, evolution that overturned the widely held belief in the divine superiority of the "white race".

So-called "scientific racism" emerged around the same time that Darwin published his theory of evolution, but from a completely different group of people and for completely different reasons. In the mid-1800s both American slavery and European imperialism were coming under increasing criticism. During this time the idea of white supremacy became popular among those seeking to justify slavery and imperialism. Prior to Darwin, and after Darwin by opponents of evolution, biology was a theologically based field. The primary "scientific racists" were creationists who believed that science supported Biblical scripture, and that scripture supported slavery and the domination of one group over another.

So, you agree with Darwin that the 'savage races' will be made extinct by the superior races? What further context could rescue such a statement? There isn't any. I gave you the chance to distance yourself from it and you didn't.

Abolitionist or not, Darwin clearly believed in the superiority of the white race. The Descent of Man let that cat out of the bag. He just didn't think it was divinely appointed; rather, that it was a product natural selection.

Darwin was a racist, point blank, and what he said about 'the savages' was a lot uglier than what John Wayne said. I'm not in the business of pointing out racism at every turn in order to prop up my own anti-racist bonafides [there has to be a bit of projection in that], that's other people's gig. Both Wayne and Darwin were products of their time so my position is their contributions should be considered apart from their thoughts on race.

It's stuff like this why people don't take the constant bleating about race from left very seriously. Always the double standard.

Yes I knew that would grab your attention. Can you just imagine the Duke in an Agatha Christie film?

I've always thought that the "final gun fight" in both The Shootist and Grand Torino were pretty similar, even though they were handled differently.

You are wasting your time, because there never will be a "John Wayne Day".

Neither should there be one. Let him have his star, or whatever it is they do, and be over it. Nothing really makes actors such special human beings. I fail to see the accomplishments, and their political opinions are worth as much as mine.
Can I have a day?
