Except in this case the Governor of the State, who is the only one that can call in the National Guard, was on the side of the students and requested that the Missou University President do something about it and yet the Missou University President did nothing. You can call this a resignation if you want. We all know in reality his ass was fired.

Not from what I've been reading. It appears he pissed of the Governor who specifically and publically requested that he address the Students concerns about racism and harassment. When you're boss tells you to do something and you don't....you take your chances and you know as well as I do that he either had to resign or face being fired. This tells me that these were no isolated incidents are you are trying to portray them to be and if they were not, then he deserved to be fired.

It's not bullshit at all. What I said was completely true. Pinkel may 100% support and back his players on this. But if he didn't he would be f'd on the recruiting trail. That is fact.

And you clearly haven't read the multitude of articles about the power of college athletes today based on this action by the Mizzou football team if you think this wasn't the major factor here.

You're assuming those are isolated incidents. What if they are not and such attitudes and behavior are endemic on and around that campus? Would that concern you if you were a student? If you were a minority student?

What I want to know. What I need to know. Is this an ongoing situation at this campus. Is there an endemic climate of harassment of minorities at this University? If the answer is "Yes" and the Students organized and have been requesting action over a significant period of time and nothing has been done, then his ass should be fired. It's as simple as that. The man was not doing his job which is to represent the welfare of those students.

I've posted a couple of times I've followed this story all day yesterday and the black students who are protesting, and the football team who joined them, aren't protesting over sexism and homophobia. ONE guy who went on a hunger strike wrote a letter about and mentioned planned parenthood. You follow sports. You know damn well a football team isn't going to do what Mizzou's did over some guy being upset over Planned Parenthood.

This is about race.

Oh that argument about political correctness on campus has been going on forever. I went to College literally right down the street from Antioch College, which was known nationally for being "PCU" and that was back in the mid 80's. It doesn't look to me like people have had any trouble over the last 30 years speaking their minds.

So then you do agree with me then that you simply don't know enough about the actual situation on the ground at Missou as it actually is and we both agree that if the reporst are right and these are not isolated incidents and that the Student body has been calling for action in this respect for sometime than his ass should have been fired?

personally, I would discuss whether the football teams threat to boycott the game is sufficient reason to terminate their full ride scholarships......after the season was over, of course......
