7,000,000 BOOM!

f you don’t [stop Medicare] and I don’t do it, one of these days you and I are going to spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it once was like in America when men were free.”

Who said this in 1961?

Does this sound a lot like the anti Obamacare rants?

Some generic fear-mongering Rightie?

A fear-mongering Rightie who was WRONG, by the way.

raised taxes a bunch... ran the deficit up like crazy.... LIED to us about Iran-Contra...great guy.

LMAO... lowered income taxes, closed tax loopholes on the rich (I am sure you hate that), raised taxes on cigarettes (how horrible)... what else are you referring to?

The democrats in congress had a large hand in raising the deficit. Carter's dismantling of the military did as well. Not to mention Reagan had to kill the nasty stagflation Carter left. Add in that every President since Reagan has also raised the deficit and it really is a weak talking point. Reagan raised the debt $1.6 trillion in 8 years, Bush $1.4 trillion in four years, Clinton $1.6 trillion in 8 years and we all know how bad Bush and Obama have sucked. Clinton benefited from a refit military and an economic boom that began in 1982... and he still almost ran up the same amount of debt.

Yes, Iran Contra... not good. did not say Reagan was perfect. I said he was hands down the best President since Ike.

Care to offer an alternative?

Clinton is second best in my opinion... was he your first?

So again... he lowered income taxes...

In 1982, The Tax Equity and Fiscal Responsibility Act raised taxes by $37.5 billion per year, and the Highway Revenue Act raised the gasoline tax by $3.3 billion.

Yep.. good thing.

In 1983, Reagan signed off on legislation to raise payroll taxes and tax Social Security benefits for some higher earners.

Had to shore up Social security... so good thing

In 1984, the Deficit Reduction Act included increases in taxes on estates and distilled spirits and ended some business tax breaks, to the tune of $18 billion per year.

Not a substantial bill, but taxes on estates and alcohol... not really a bad thing. Ending some business breaks... guess it depends on what the breaks actually were.

In 1985, Reagan signed legislation making permanent a 16-cent federal excise tax on a pack of cigarettes, then worth about $2.4 billion a year.

Again, not a big dollar amount, but hardly a bad thing.

In 1986, the Tax Reform Act lowered the top income tax bracket from 50 percent to 28 percent. To pay for the reductions, however, the legislation closed a number of tax loopholes.

Which is what I stated.

In 1987, Reagan signed the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act that extended the telephone excise tax and eliminated a real estate tax deduction loophole.

Ok... so again... which of these is a bad thing? Not sure I am understanding your point.

so... whenever you want to hide from the fact that he raised taxes a lot, you give the reason he did it and say, "good thing". got it.

I agree. I am sure that will be addressed in the future. There are good things and bad things about the ACA but in the balance it's a step in the right direction....but just a step. There's a looooooong way to go to reform our system. The ACA just establishes a precedent from which all other reforms will evolve.
Of course you mean total government control of healthcare.

Boris.... some friends of mine and I were just talking about you last night.... it wasn't so much a conversation as a limerick that one of my friends told:

"There once was a lady from Wheeling
Who professed a lack of sexual feeling.
"Til a fellow named Boris
Merely licked her clitoris
And they had to peel her off of the ceiling!"

so... whenever you want to hide from the fact that he raised taxes a lot, you give the reason he did it and say, "good thing". got it.

How am I 'hiding from it'? I have never stated he didn't raise some taxes. He did exactly what I have proposed doing. Lowering brackets, eliminating loopholes/deductions. I would take the second part further than he did, but at least he tried to do the right thing.

You still haven't stated why you think his raising taxes was a bad thing... why is that Maine?

I said he raised taxes ... you did you LMAO... and then went on to agree that he did, in fact, raise taxes. I would ask what was so fucking funny, but then, I just read your stupid shit, laugh, and answer my own question.

I said Reagan was the best President since Ike, I thought given your 'he increased the debt, iran contra, raised taxes' meant that you thought all of those things were bad. I also laughed given that you said he raised taxes while ignoring the fact that the biggest change was his lowering of the income tax brackets.

But I see you really had no idea what you were saying and once trapped you have begun to spin like a top.

I'm amused by your anecdotal Facebook bullshit. But alas, I prefer factual data to your anecdotal bullshit.

Really Counselor? I am quite certain the LA Times and New York Times were avid supporters of the Obama Presidency and the ACA and go out of their way to promote their leftist ideology.

Yet the news is that rates "increased", BUT, not as much as they "might" have. A familiar leftist meme that actually is saying, "we were wrong, but it's still good for everyone because we lefties care more than anyone else on the planet."

Do you have something other than anectdotal Facebook claims to support the argument that our rates went down?

P.S. keyword "higher deductibles".

Jarod is a paid hack, he is paid to come on here and spew this crap, as are several of his buddies

I happen to think that raising taxes was good... I think that raising the debt was excessive for his time... I think that lying about Iran contra was terrible. I think it is funny and hypocritical for righties today to LOVE Ronnie, but seemingly forget that he did lots of the stuff they pillory Obama for.

The difference lies in the HOW. Raising income tax brackets does what exactly? Pander to the populace? I am all for Obama shutting loopholes/deductions and vastly simplifying the tax code. That is not what he has done. He isn't even on the same path.

The debt of Reagan isn't in the same ballpark as Bush Jr., let alone Obama. Bush Jr and Obama are the two worst in our lifetimes. Not even close for the third place runner up Bush Sr.

and again Mutt... how many people have lost their insurance since Obama care started? Are you counting them too?

How many did, Simplefreak? I know that both Jarod and myself, with pre-existing conditions only have insurance at all, because of RomneyCare. In my case, it came in the very nick of time.

By the way, you know you are on the wrong side of the coin when this retard is thanking you;

Sorry idiot, Jarod is hardly a paid hack. You are a fucking moron. Paid hacks know how to write and spell and don't make fools of themselves like Jarrod does.

LOL... poor Dune... that is the point. They won't release the data they have. All they do is say '7 million signed up but we don't know anything else'.

AS for TD... the fact that you are trying to make a point for them shows that it is they that are on the wrong side of this.

I know you take the governments word for everything, that is what lemmings do. Those of us that think things through, want more than propaganda.

What is the point? That Romney care is the only reason I survived another year?
You too tried to make a point but provide no citation.
How do we know that any truly lost their health care?

You think I am a lemming? you know better, but will say anything to win.

Lets pretend that Obamacare turns out to be the best thing ever, (It wont, it has flaws) lets pretend so many sign up and so many get healthcare that it leads to a huge decrease in sickness and insurance rates drop dramatically, eventually everyone is insured and we turn out to have the most amazing healthcare system in the world.... Just pretend!

How many righties do you think would acknowledge it?

Lets pretend that Obamacare turns out to be the worst thing ever, (It has so many flaws that it could very well be) lets pretend not enough sign up who actually pay into it and it collapses under it's own weight and we have a huge increase in people being unable to be treated for sickness, because of a lack of Doctors and long waiting lists, and insurance rates rise so dramatically, that eventually no one is really insured and we turn out to have the most disastrous healthcare system in the world.... Just pretend!

How many lefties do you think would acknowledge its failure?

So now any comment made 50 years ago, was supposed to have the ability to reference what's happening today?
