At what point do you have a right to shoot someone dead?

I honestly thought. StY being the macho gun slinger he vlaims to be that he would pull a Wyatt Earp quick draw and shoot him with his own gun!

Instead of the OK Corral, it would be the OK Movie Theater!

I was greatly disappointed he has been feminized to the point of doing nothing.

Wow, you are just hilarious lately.

Lol, drawing your gun, tell me STY, if someone drew a gun on you, wouldn't that cause you to act more aggressively? Or would you backdown and just stand there?

Idiots

i like how you are pretending you would charge full throttle at a guy pointing a gun at you rather than cowering in fear and hiding under a seat or something which is what we all know would be your true response.

Someone pulled a gun on me I would poop my pants! Then hide under the chair.

I don't see where I claimed I would attack them. Maybe you could point that out to me!

I once read someone who wrote that the most terrifying thing they could think of was their doorbell ringing at 3am looking out the door to see a clown standing there...

well you are speaking in generalities that someone pulling a gun makes everyone more aggressive in response.

glad you have admitted that's not the case though.

So, clearly there is a place where you have a right to kill... like say you are backed into an alley being threatened with a gun. And there is a place where you have no right to kill in self defense... like say your waitress spills soup on your lap.

But where is the line? At what point do/should you have a right to shoot?
Really? This is your question? Where did you get your law degree, out of a Cracker Jack box?

that did not get answered because it's almost ludicrous. since the only weapon I can currently carry 'by law' is a handgun, if someone draws a gun on me I will need to weigh my options of what's best......running, freezing, or drawing my own and shooting.

So when confronted with deadly force you might run, freeze, or use deadly force of your own but when confronted with popcorn being tossed at you the response is to prepare to use deadly force? That makes a lot of sense.

Now, let's pretend that the popcorn thrower, like any good apple-pie eating American man, is also a big fan of exercising his 2nd Amendment rights. You've drawn your gun on him . . .

You should have a right to shoot if you believe that your life is threatened by another. It really is that simple.

Let's say some idiot had a replica gun that to all appearances was the real deal. If he pulled it and held it on you or your family threatening to shoot you do you have the right to shoot him? Of course you do. You may not have been in any danger, but how could any reasonable person say you should have known it was fake?

Some of your scenarios are silly, Jarod. Spilled soup? What reasonable person would believe their life was in danger from spilled soup? Even if it is hot she clearly wasn't trying to kill you.

Thrown popcorn... :dunno: it depends on how the guy was acting. Let's say he was moving towards my child while he threw popcorn... Do I have a right to protect her?

Because it's a stupid condescending question Jarod which is why you asked it. Don't ask stupid shit and then pretend to be surprised that no one answers (except for Desh of course).

See?

Here we go again.

Jarod is interested in maybe having a dialogue regarding some reasonable regulations, and he INSTANTLY gets shouted down by another angry gun nut for DARING to ask a question the gun nuts deem condescending.

a person knocking on a strangers door at 3am for help wouldn't be holding a weapon in his hand. It would be reasonable then to conclude that there was criminal intent.

He might if he too was a fellow gun nut constantly fearing for his life and just waiting for someone to look at him the wrong way so he would be justified in shooting him.
