A&E suspended Phil Robertson

I agree...partially. I don't think I'd even call them ignorant or uninformed. I think he was looking at his own experiences with those he worked with and extrapolating that:

Honest work + community + godliness = happiness

And just stating such. If that is the formula that he came up with then I agree with him.

Now does he mention things that were likely going on that were bad for black folks in the 60's? No. Again, that wasn't the frame of reference for the conversation and point.

But this is just speculation on my part.

You're correct; a better word would have been "perhaps" instead of "yes."

"It seems like, to me, a vagina — as a man — would be more desirable than a man's anus, that's just me," the reality star said.

"I'm just thinking: There's more there! She's got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I'm saying? But hey, sin: It's not logical, my man. It's just not logical."

"Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there, bestiality,"

Wonder what he means by she's got more to offer?
Tell me what you think he means. I notice you didn't bother noting that the last line is taken out of context, that you put it into there as if he said all that as one idea when you know it wasn't the next thing he said nor was it out of the blue... Somebody, much later in the article, asks him a question which he answers with a list of things that are sinful. I'll also note that Bestiality was the beginning of another sentence...

I'll quote the article here for you:

What, in your mind, is sinful?

“Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men,” he says. Then he paraphrases Corinthians: “Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers—they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.”

(He was asked, to be exact: What in your mind is sinful?)

They did have a Muslim reality show, it was so normal, it was boring and was cancelled! No drama, no stupidity, Americans aren't interested.

They tune in to mock the DD dynasty.

I never got a chance to see it because their sponsor Lowe's wimped out and cancelled when they got letters and email from Muslim haters.

Did they invite those blacks they worked along to their homes for dinner?

My folks did. We went to church together and played together because our parents grew up together. And while we live in OK and most of them have moved to KS, we still get together almost every summer. I can't answer for Phil.

As I kid I lived in TX, AR, KS, MO... it was the same for us. That said, I would be willing to bet there was more animosity in states like GA, AL, MS etc...

you realize different states had different Jim Crow laws? You also realize that 'white trash' also was not welcome among the aristocracy? Robertson would have been about 18 when the Civil Rights act was passed. So they did have the right to vote.

While things were far from good even in the 60's, to compare that time to slavery is simply absurd.

Oh you are telling me that some black people were treated better than others according to where they lived?
Phil Robertson was an all-state in football, baseball and track in high school. Do you think his fans yelled, "Go white trash?"
When were blacks given the right to vote?
Why do feel the need to justify how black people were treated?

I don't see LR as a bigot but then I've been reading his posts for almost five years. However, I'm bothered by his sweeping generalization about the left. A lot of RWs here are the same.

And I thank you for that. I will add that my generalizations of the left are not as sweeping in my head as they appear to be in print. I don't quantify with every reference to the left that I understand that all on the left are not supportive of what I may be addressing. Maybe that's clear as mud, I really can't say it as well as I can think it for some reason. Not enough synapses firing at the moment probably.

He doesn't like homosexuals because they don't like vaginas. If you think I took his quotation out of context, then finish it and interpret to fit your own belief.

You read, yet do not comprehend which is a common affliction among leftist dunces.

What is impossible for dunces to comprehend is that is clearly how God, or nature for you intollerant atheists out there, intended. An ass was clearly not designed for penetration; evidenced by a lack of natural lubricant and size of orifice.

I know this is hard for you dimwits to comprehend; but then, facts, reality and the truth are repugnant to leftist dimwits.

His views about homosexuality suggest that if you accept it as "normal" behavior, it morphs into other "deviant" forms until there is little to distinguish between beasts and humans.

But alas, dunces want to rant about how tollerant we should be to everything deviant, but intollerant to anything preaching biblical morality. Rather ironic isnt it?

Lesson for everyone; if you talk about your desire to be a transsexual, you will be celebrated for your "courage". Quote from the bible, and you will be lynched by the "tolerant" Liveral mob and fired fom your job. Gotta love hem tolerant decent leftists eh?

Liberals could care less about the Constitution and free speech; they prefer the Fascist version where speech is to be controlled and moderated to the extent of a lynch mob.

No, and I would like to hear if he did. There were many folks in Kansas that treated blacks as equals, but there were also those that didn't.

I am glad your family accepted them.

I don't watch the show, do they have black friends?

He doesn't like homosexuals because they don't like vaginas. If you think I took his quotation out of context, then finish it and interpret to fit your own belief.

First off, never once did he say that he "doesn't like homosexuals." Rather he says this:

“We never, ever judge someone on who’s going to heaven, hell. That’s the Almighty’s job. We just love ’em, give ’em the good news about Jesus—whether they’re homosexuals, drunks, terrorists. We let God sort ’em out later,

I think I got mine from the article and you simply rearrange to suit your own anger issues.

Let's see what he actually said in that part...

Out here in these woods, without any cameras around, Phil is free to say what he wants. Maybe a little too free. He’s got lots of thoughts on modern immorality, and there’s no stopping them from rushing out. Like this one:

“It seems like, to me, a vagina—as a man—would be more desirable than a man’s anus. That’s just me. I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical.”

Perhaps we’ll be needing that seat belt after all.

So... Note that the next line of the article wasn't what you said it was... I personally think he said, "to me" and "that's just me" because he was talking about himself....

You have to go to page 2 of the article to find what you "believe" was the next words uttered and it was directly in response to a question.

It’s not right."

So, do you think he "equated" being drunk with bestiality? Should alcoholics be offended?

Then later in the article:

As far as Phil is concerned, he was literally born again. Old Phil—the guy with the booze and the pills—died a long time ago, and New Phil sees no need to apologize for him: “We never, ever judge someone on who’s going to heaven, hell. That’s the Almighty’s job. We just love ’em, give ’em the good news about Jesus—whether they’re homosexuals, drunks, terrorists. We let God sort ’em out later, you see what I’m saying?”

No, and I would like to hear if he did. There were many folks in Kansas that treated blacks as equals, but there were also those that didn't.

I am glad your family accepted them.

I don't watch the show, do they have black friends?

Honestly, I don't watch the show either. My boy does and I watched the Christmas special with him last week. The couple of episodes that I have watched had no black people in them.

Exactly! He states that America's going down the tubes and it's all because of (paraphrasing) no-moral liberals and that he's glad he has a platform to air his views on how to correct what he sees as the problem.

So the dunce who frowns on the sweeping generalizations of the right, makes the sweeping generalization that this guy is a Conservative talking about Liberals.

I had no idea that the bible was about Liberals and Conservatives or that it was only a belief held by right infers.

Dunce. I'm amused by your "paraphrasing". It's another word for fabrication.

Did they invite those blacks they worked along to their homes for dinner?

Should they have? Why? Is it in the leftist race hustling handbook that if you do not associate with blacks or invite them into your house, and you are white, you're a racist?
