While I am making some assumptions here (and wow, THAT never happens on this board), do you have NO PROBLEM with a religion that tells men to dominate their wives and to beat them up? as part of the religion?

This is an abusive religion, encouraging abusive relationships. And while some in the religion might be into S&M anyway, I doubt it's a majority given its lack of prevalence in the general society.

I also assume most females who suffer genital mutilation don't really choose THAT either but are pressured into it by their family, their religion, and their culture.

Considering the fact that I already stated we should help if it is clear that it isn't consensual I have trouble believing you don't see your own naked straw man here.

I find that ironic, Darla.

I simply look at the same issue from a different direction. I do not assume that nobody would want that type of life, mostly because I met some that did. Did I want to "help"? Yes. Would it be right? No.

We need to make laws stronger that allow people to leave relationships they don't want to be in, but we should not stop people from doing what they actually want. There is a line we need to walk.

Don't give up on Damo, just realize he will never concede even when proven wrong.
Otherwise he is great fun and a vast fund of wisdom and knowledge.
Unfortunately, he suffers from conservatism, a disease which blocks the reception of certain forms of logic.

i have posted previously that the coerced spanking or beating of the women by the man for religious reasons is wrong. i was responding to adult consensual 'punishment' from another post.
