9 Out Of 10 Americans Are Completely Wrong About This Mind-Blowing Fact

We've got some common ground there. I don't like the "woe" argument either, though a more equitable compensation system would alleviate a lot of that as well. I was just at Wal-Mart, and it is kind of screwed up that most of the people that work at a successful enterprise such as that can't really get by at even the most minimal level.

If that chart that Tom just posted is correct, it's a real eye-opener. There is just something wrong there. To me, it smacks more of a system that people who understand it can exploit to their personal advantage, rather than one which is set up with just a basic fairness in mind.

How do you know they cant get by?

I asked you one simple thing, to post the specific name of a company as an example of your outrageous claim, and you come back with two links. The first is a ".org" link, which signifies it is some kind of organization, and since it apparently supports Marxism as you do, it's probably a Marxist propaganda outlet, and not worthy of my clicking. The other is from Harvard Law... same fucking difference! I don't have time for your games, either answer my goddamn question or STFU.

What company in America is being run by "institutional investors" up to and including the hiring of the CEO? The only example I can think of off the top of my head, is General Motors, and the "institutional investor" is the US Government.

I can't be bothered with you, you are just impossible. I have rerely met anyone so wilfully ignorant.

Yes, it was tried under Soviet ruler Karl Marx, did you fail World History or something?

A variation was again tried by Chairman Mao in China and Pol Pot in Cambodia. Both failed again.

Repeatedly, when some form of Marxist, Socialist or Communist government is established, it ends in disaster. Sometimes it even ends with people being executed.

What are you blathering about now? Karl Mark never even went to Russia let alone become its ruler!! He spent a large part of his life in England and died 30 odd years before the Russian revolution.

Karl Mark was a very poor drummer in an unheard of band in Bacup in the mid 80s. He died of a surfeit of Humgrummets whilst on a camping holiday to Leeds. His death went unannounced and completely unmourned.

While I know everyone is capable of cognitive dissonance, but watching it displayed in Obama supporters is truly stunning.

Their contradictions are too numerous to list, but in this particular thread we have

1) CEOs make way too much money. Of course it was pointed out that their increase in salary was due to democrat meddling to decrease their salary. Most of their salary now is tied to stock options which is tied to a growing stock market

2) Wall St is evil and is responsible for all of our ills

3) The DOW is up. Yay!!!!!!!!! It is morning in America!!!!!!!

Do you liberals not realize that by cheering on the DOW you are indirectly cheering on those things you otherwise claim to despise?

Essentially with the advances in US productivity that began in the 80's and continue to this date, our GDP has quadrupled since 1980. Virtually all of that increased productivity has gone to the top 1% of income earners.

Here's the fucked up logic of conservative thinking on this issue, particularly the southern/rural kind. They believe that it's ok for me to work my ever loving ass off to make some else rich but when I demand my fair share of the pie for my productivity I magically become a socialist for wanting nothing more than what I have earned.

As long as we have large numbers of simple minded low rent mouth breathers who continue to believe that, income inequity will continue to grow with our growing productivity.

In the 80's we became a debtor nation and went from a production based economy to a consumer based one.
We also started believing that if the stock market did well so did everything else.

Soviet ruler Karl Marx! Lol, another classic he will claim he never said, was taken out of context or misinterpreted.

How good is that? I couldn't script this stuff any better.

Marxism has never been tried. I thought you knew what Marxism was, and did dissertations & all of that kind of stuff?

You are technically correct in that we have never seen the true ideal of what Marxism is and there is a really good reason for that. Like all pseudo intellectual theories, it severely discounted human nature. Oh it sounded swell that everyone was equal, but that isn't the reality.

You will never get to pure Marxism because you can't get past the murder and destruction of socialism to get there. Your education is complete. You are welcome

SJJ did a high school term paper on it. Maybe he can put in his two cents. That should really clear this up.

Just like you can't get past the jury-rigging of capitalism to get to a truly free market. In the real world there are always too many assholes looking for an unfair advantage for perfect competition to actually realize its full benefits.

Regardless of ditzy's faceplant, Marxism has been tried and failed. But I don't see why these discussions always tend to focus on the utopian results and don't instead focus on the foundational premises. By that I mean the Marxist theory of value is really stupid and so clearly wrong that it becomes obvious why the results are never any good. The value of an item is not based on how much labor is required to produce it. The value of a good is based on it's utility.

Sorry, I meant to say it was tried under Lenin, but typed Marx instead. My bad.

Revolutionary socialist governments espousing Marxist concepts took power in a variety of countries in the 20th century, leading to the formation of such socialist states as the Soviet Union in 1922 and the People's Republic of China in 1949. Many labour unions and workers' parties worldwide were also influenced by Marxist ideas, while various theoretical variants, such as Leninism, Stalinism, Trotskyism, and Maoism, were developed from them.

That is an excellent point and I would not argue with it one bit. There comes a point where all businesses discover that it is more profitable to be a rent seeker than it is to determine what will make the market happy

This is why morality was a key component of our US Constitution. It takes a moral person to turn down the rent seekers.

in accurate

"Sigh" I don't want to start a whole political thing…but I feel this is/was created to make us all feel anger/resentment at people who have money. That way we can take their money and give it to ourselves in the form of healthcare, or pensions, ss… I'm not saying that's wrong, but I want to call it what it is…if that's what it is. Again, i'm not sure about this, but I'd appreciate feedback. I've seen this over and over…. but can't help feel it doesn't account for the wealth provided by government retirement and government support (including SS). isn't receiving 3.5K per month for the rest of your life the same as having a million dollars in the bank? I work for myself, so I'm trying to save, and save and save…I'm trusting my wealth / bank account/wealth is accurately accounted for , but what about the money that is not "our's" now but will be soon…is that wealth reported? My dad has a pension from ford…plus SS… What about the fireman or teacher that will/is receiving a pension of 5K a month? or 10K a month? They may not have money in their bank account but surely are not destitute/broke. I however have trouble saving on my own 10K year to survive past 62.

Kenny, Police and Firemen are saving to survive past 62 themselves. Most Police and Firemen and teachers pay for their pensions they are not free.
Heres some myths, Police and Firemen some of whom pay half their pension and the agency pays the other half meaning the state or the munincipality. Pension enrollment by Police and fire and teachers and other public employees is mandatory they have no choices. Dont vilify them for being forced into the pension plan. Actuaries for public employees have shown if they had been allowed to invest the MANDATORY pension deductions they paid which in some cases in 10% of their gross pay taken out of the NET pay they would have far more income at retirement.
The same applies for babyboomers that were FORCED to pay into Social Security every day of thier working lives and given no choice. Now suddenly the right wants to vilify them as moochers and suckin on the govt teat. If the gop and dems had not robbed the SS fund it would solvent.
Lastly the rich doesnt need the middleclass or the poors help as I see it. They have gotten fabulously richer off of those same americans via their buying their cheap chinese crap or toiling for them.
Its them that needs the help.

State Capitalism, enforced by capitalist armies, as you know. 'Soviet Ruler Karl Marx' died in the UK long, long before the Russian Revolution and its destruction by the eighteen capitalist armies. Americans, unfortunately, are heavily discouraged from learning about this matter, and tend to spout drivel.
