NRA: We shouldn't take rifles away from '10-year-old little girls' on their birthdays

Glancing through the posts on this thread I see a huge divide that comes from a vastly different way of thinking due to a difference in raising. You see, I agree with those in the OP who are against the said legislation based on the broadness of the stipulations.

A Ruger 10/22 is the most common gun given as a gift when a kid is ready to go to the next level in their gun training. I saw someone say:

10 years old is too young to shoot guns

Something like that, I’m going on a feeble memory. That quote exposes a difference in how kids are raised and trained. Most kids around here have killed 3 or 4 deer by that age. Most of them do have a Ruger 10/22 or something similar by the to hunt small game with. So when someone wants to make a law to make a simple Ruger 10/22 illegal by labeling it an “assault weapon,” especially by what I call back door attempts .... You know, by banning features of those mean black guns that are the same on these entry level, small game hunting rifles ... that angers me greatly.

But what angers me more is that this is the only place you’ll see my side (which is really most of rural America’s side) of the story. You sure aren’t going to see it on any “main stream” news network. All you see there are guys like Cuomo stating the virtues of gun regulations. This is the end of my rant. Excuse me while I sent the NRA another $100.

That was my post about 10 year olds having guns. I amended it to say that when 10 year olds have guns, it should be under adult supervision. It's a subjective opinion as all children mature differently.

I had a .410 shotgun at 13 and a .22 rifle at 14. I hunted with my father and older brothers until about 16.

I hear you about the guys like Cuomo stating the virtues of gun regulations. He probably never owned or fired a gun in his life. The back door attempts to ban guns by the left have been around since the 1930's.

We never had a gun incidence with the teenagers who had hunting rifles and shotguns. Something has changed drastically with the populace now. In my opinion, it's related to the failure of parents who won't discipline their children...or the prevalence of drugs...or both.

Keep posting, Middle America needs to be heard. We all don't live on the East or West Coast.

Ages 12-15. Kids age 12 to 15 have the same requirements as those under 12, EXCEPT that they will need to complete a hunter education course IF they will be hunting unsupervised. If they will be under the “direct supervision” of an adult, then hunter education is NOT required.

I've asked several times and not ONE JPP LIBERAL has ever been able to answer it:

During the 50's, 60's, and 70's trucks with gun racks, with guns in them, were common in school parking lots and yet, there was nothing like the shootings we have now; so, WHAT CHANGED??

as in 10-yr-old kids?

you're a freak, shouldn't be allowed to own a bb gun

Yes, as in 10 year old kids. If they’re ready for the next level in firearm ownership as determined by mom or dad (preferably both) then yes, a Ruger 10/22 is often the perfect firearm for that.

And no, I’m not a freak. He lives in Colorado. ;)

Only in Floriduh

and this article is NOT from The Onion

The NRA itself says the gun its lobbyist wants little girls to have is actually 'for adults.'

The NRA's top lobbyist in Florida argued against a proposed assault weapons ban, complaining that if the law passes, young children might not get rifles for their birthdays.

"How do you tell a 10-year-old little girl who got a Ruger 10/22 with a pink stock for her birthday that her rifle is an assault weapon and she has to turn it over to government or be arrested for felony possession?" asked Marion Hammer at a Friday meeting of Florida economists to oppose the proposed ban.

The NRA and other pro-gun advocates in the state have complained that the proposal, which would be voted on in a referendum in 2020, is too broad, even though a recent Quinnipiac poll showed that 59% of Florida voters support an assault weapons ban in the state.

misogynist.....

A toddler found a handgun and fatally shot himself. His case is one of at least 73 accidental child deaths involving a gun in 2018

At least 73 juveniles under age 12 were killed last year, roughly the same pace as the previous five years. What happened next varied widely.

A 2017 USA TODAY and Associated Press investigation of the 152 deaths from 2014 to 2016 found about half ended in a criminal charge, usually of adults who police said should have watched children more closely or secured their guns more carefully.

73?.......compared to nearly a million abortions.........odd you don't want to ban things that REALLY are bad for children........

Every gun owner claims to be a super, super responsible one who has trained their kids to be super good and responsible gun lovers. We should allow 10 year old girls to take guns to school in their bullet proof backpacks. What could go wrong? More guns make us safer. America has the most guns, that is why we are the safest country in the world regarding gun violence.

straw little girl?.....

yes they do, fewer guns means fewer shooting and deaths

I suppose these toddlers would be stabbing each other w/o those guns, right?

But uts OK to dress a girl up as a boy and tell her she is a boy! Got it

Do u know how many kids under 5 the backyard pool kills? Where is your outcry?
