If you're not a health expert

Hello Darth,

You still think there is a chance it will top out in the hundreds?

And you said this today?

After a national emergency has been declared?

By somebody who was loathe to do it 6 weeks ago when it would have been prudent? Our president?

And when it would have saved lives already?

If you are a health expert then you should understand that if a disease has a death rate of 60%, and they happen quickly, that automatically limits the spread. This one has a very small death rate, and they don't happen as quickly. That's what allows it to spread so quickly. And it is highly contagious even between individuals who are asymptomatic.

Taking temperatures in doorways does not ensure that infected and contagious individuals will be prevented from entering.

I am curious just what you think is going to stop this disease?
Since you have been cheering the economic loss to millions of Americans caused by a Chinese virus that was not contained by the Chinese, why would anyone care what your opinion is, Snowflake?

Because it's more transmissible than influenza. But the fact remains, the flu kills far more people.

We have no idea how many this virus will kill.

I have seen worst case scenarios, but I am withholding judgement until more information and data is forthcoming

We have an idea. It doesn't seem as though you're withholding judgement, you seem VERY judgmental. You are capable of being a decent person, but lately you're a complete asshole. I hope you are able to come back from this, but I have my doubts.

sure. look at the other nations who broke out mass testing while we spun our wheels. That does not require some arcane knowledge base. The fact is to solve a problem, the first step is to define it. We do not know how many Americans have it. We have not even tested a strong sample to give us a start,.
i was going to provide all you asked, but first you have to provide me with a demonstration of your background to understand it. It may be beyond you. Without your credentials, I will not waste my time.

Nice try. I will conclude you have ZERO credentials

South Korea reportedly tested around 140,000 people out of a population of over 58 million. Is testing 140,000 people out of a population of over 58 million what you call "mass testing". Nerdberg?

BTW. they recently announced that new cases have declined and it had nothing to do with testing. They closed their borders and banned public gatherings.

South Korea reports fewer than 150 new COVID-19 cases

South Korea, one of the worst-affected countries in the COVID-19 epidemic outside China, reported fewer than 150 new cases for the first time in two weeks.

A total of 131 new infections were confirmed, the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) said, taking the total to 7,513.

Three more people died, it added, taking the death toll to 54.

Each morning, the South Koreans announce how many cases were diagnosed the previous day, with the latest figure the lowest for a single day since late February and marking the fourth consecutive daily fall.

"The number of new COVID-19 cases has been declining, so we can assess the rate of increase is coming to a standstill," said Yoon Tae-ho at the Central Disaster Management Headquarters.

South Korea was the first country to report significant coronavirus numbers outside China, where the disease first emerged, although the focus of global concern has been moving towards Italy and Iran in recent days.

Authorities say the risk of small cluster infections continues and the public have been urged to refrain from group events such as protests or religious services.

Or you haven't studied viruses or illness or pandemics thoroughly & extensively: please stop.

You don't know anything. Even people who study this don't know much. It's "novel"...remember?

Stop w/ the "the flu is worse!" and "look at the swine flu!" and "it'll go away when spring comes like everything else!"

Just stop. You don't know anything. I don't either. No one really does.

You can follow the expert advice given by the CDC and the WHO on how to take care of yourself PRIOR to getting a virus so that
if you DO get it, your odds of recovery are better!

It would suck for the people hoping that millions die, because then they can't credibly blame the president for bungling in an election year, lol.

Deny this, Duke of Duplicity. :D

"The president’s misinformation and mendacity about the coronavirus are head-snapping. He claimed that it was contained in America when it was actually spreading. He claimed that we had “shut it down” when we had not. He claimed that testing was available when it wasn’t. He claimed that the coronavirus will one day disappear “like a miracle”; it won’t. He claimed that a vaccine would be available in months; Fauci says it will not be available for a year or more.

Trump falsely blamed the Obama administration for impeding coronavirus testing. He stated that the coronavirus first hit the United States later than it actually did. (He said that it was three weeks prior to the point at which he spoke; the actual figure was twice that.) The president claimed that the number of cases in Italy was getting “much better” when it was getting much worse. And in one of the more stunning statements an American president has ever made, Trump admitted that his preference was to keep a cruise ship off the California coast rather than allowing it to dock, because he wanted to keep the number of reported cases of the coronavirus artificially low.

“I like the numbers,” Trump said. “I would rather have the numbers stay where they are. But if they want to take them off, they’ll take them off. But if that happens, all of a sudden your 240 [cases] is obviously going to be a much higher number, and probably the 11 [deaths] will be a higher number too.” (Cooler heads prevailed, and over the president’s objections, the Grand Princess was allowed to dock at the Port of Oakland.)"

Don't argue with me sport. Got a problem with the data take it up with the WHO. They are the ones reporting the numbers.

What leftists won't tell you is that that ""4%" figure is an estimate, and it's the highest estimate they can find.

Public-health scientists say the real death rate is probably lower. U.S. health officials suggested in an article in the New England Journal of Medicine that the death rate could be well below 1%. Other estimates have ranged between 1% and 2%.

Studies suggest there are also people who were infected but had no symptoms.

“We don’t know the proportion of mild or asymptomatic cases,” Marc Lipsitch, professor of epidemiology at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and director of the Center for Communicable Disease Dynamics, said .

Epidemiologists say they are certain there are many more people who were infected but didn’t receive a test—because they weren’t ill enough to get one.

Exactly, not one of these pompous pricks will address why all these measures weren't enacted for the H3N2 epidemic in 2017. 80,000 Americans died and 900,000 ended up in hospital, the worst outbreak in 40 years.

Who says it won't disappear? That's exactly what happened to SARS and MERS, which are both corona type viruses. Maybe you can explain why there wasn't this level of hysteria over the H3N2 virus in 2017 that killed 80,000 and hospitalised 900,000 in the US? This was only two years ago so why has that been forgotten so quickly?

That entire article is excellent reading. Not for the faint of heart.

Post a scientifically-based projection from a prestigious medical science organization, like CDC or NIH, which projects how many people may ultimately die

Disappear "like a miracle" are trump's words. Most epidemics follow a curve, they don't just disappear.

Deny what? The politically-motivated pandemic panic propaganda that distorts the facts and highlights cherry-picked scary-sounding estimates, dear Duchess of Double Standards?

:D
You're playing obtuse, my dear Duke. The article lays out exactly how trump responded to the virus, and that's why people are criticizing him. We don't need false reassurances, just the straight facts. :|
