Nice!

We dropped under 3000 in ICUs.

Active cases still dropping, too.

The USA currently has an R value of less than 1.

But, as thousands find out each day, you can still get COVID if you are exposed to an infected person who might not even know they have COVID. So it is still wise to avoid close contact with a lot of other people, particularly for extended periods of time.

Some of the people who get COVID still go to intensive care. Particularly at-risk people who do not get fully vaccinated and boosted are at the most risk.

The number of people in ICU's is just under 3000. Around 1000 die per day, but the figure in ICU's remains in the thousands. That means almost as fast as dead bodies are wheeled out of ICUs, new unvaccinated people are moved in and hooked up to all the tubes and devices meant to provide the last chance of staying alive.

Don't be a fool. Get vaccinated. Protect yourself and protect others.

OK, the inevitable has been achieved.

We surpassed a million deaths in America because we have not done a very good job of preventing COVID transmission as a nation. Trump is to blame for a huge part of that. It never had to get so bad so quickly. He should have taken it seriously instead of denying it even was a problem.

Trump missed a golden opportunity to lead the nation early on in a serious pandemic response.

Instead, he trashed a limited chance to get out in front of it early.

Dr Fauci advised him to take it seriously, but Trump blew it off and as usual only thought of himself and his public image.

Ironically, if he had treated the threat with the seriousness it required early on, he would have been seen as having done a good job and it would have led to a better public image. And hunderds of thousands of Americans would not have had to die needlessly. Many of them, his own followers. His efforts to mold his public image resulted in a poorer public image for most. But he played up to his foolish base, who simply want to resist anything that government does. Too bad many of them died for it. Pointless foolish deaths.

3000 deaths per million Americans.

That's easy math.

1 out of every 333 Americans has died of Corona.

CDC: COVID-19 deaths ‘overcounted’ by 24%

"Last week, the CDC said that nearly a quarter of coronavirus deaths among children were overcounted due to a “coding logic error,” but this week the agency admitted that the virus-related deaths were overcounted in all age groups."
