Corona Virus Peak Watch Thread

See, I put out data based facts and you come back come with an appeal to Fauci. Facts and data are what they are: if the objective is to open the economy, we direct 90% of our efforts at nursing homes because *the data says* that’s were nearly 50% of hospitalizations/deaths occur.

But then that's still 50% of deaths happening to people who aren't in nursing homes!

This is why you've been downplaying COVID all year...you want to lie to people and tell them it's safe to go out to save the economy for no other reason than to make you look good, when doing so puts them at risk of dying from COVID.

The shutdowns are immaterial...consumers aren't going to go out and spend money if they don't feel safe.

You're not making anyone feel any safer by lying about the seriousness of COVID, which you did all year last year and are doing this year.

So, let’s cut the current number by 50% within six weeks.

In six weeks, we are going to see another surge.

We’d nearly be there by now but we’re trying too hard to get everyone vaccinated.

Wait, we're trying too hard to get people vaccinated? Did you just seriously write that not as a parody?

After, we gut the COVID numbers, we can start with mass vaccinations and turn our attention to herd immunity.

The only way we gut the COVID numbers is by stopping the transmission of the virus. That means LOCKING DOWN.

No one is going to go out and spend money in the economy if they don't feel safe...so lying about their safety isn't going to fill them with any confidence when we are still losing 3,000 people a day to this.

Protecting hospitals is still the prime objective right? Or did Fauci change his mind again?

The prime objective is stopping the transmission.

That is only achieved by locking down.

You are lying to people, telling them it's safe to go out, for no other reason than to make your broke ass look good on a fucking anonymous message board.

Any reasonable person would recognize that until things are safer, people aren't going to go out and spend money.

You're doing NOTHING to make things safer. You're doing the exact oppoisite...by pushing this position of yours, you're making things less safe and you're making it easier for the virus to be transmitted.

The other problem with your stupid ideas is that because you don't want to stop the spread, the virus will mutate as it replicates. So it could mutate so much that the vaccines are ineffective. But it only gets to that point by not stopping transmission.

If lockdowns worked, they’d work.

Next.

If lockdowns worked, they’d work.

They do work.

It worked in NY over the Spring and Summer. Then when they eased restrictions, the case count shot right back up. In fact, you can pinpoint to the day that shit started.

No one is going to go anywhere if they don't feel safe.

So you have two choices before you:

Choice 1: Lock down to stop transmission

Choice 2: Lie to people and tell them it's safe to go out and spend money despite the fact that we are still losing 3,000 people a day to this

Those are your only two choices, and you seem to be making the wrong one.

No, we're not doing that because you and Trump fucked everything up on COVID last year, and Biden now has to basically start from scratch.

The other problem is that there isn't a federal response for vaccinations...it's currently run through the states because that's what you all wanted.

So you'll inevitably end up with states going out of order for who should get the vaccine because you didn't want a federal plan because of "government hurr durr derp derp derpy doo derp derp derp derpo derpy derp derp da doo".

So really, this is on you, not Biden or leftists or liberals.

This is your fuckup.

Look at how your brain has been warped by hate.

There are a lot of older people and other at-risk people who are not in nursing homes. They need to be prioritized along with nursing home people. That's why Republican governors are doing it the Fauci way. Because it is the right way to do it.

The problem with this pandemic is that it will continue to spread until we reach herd immunity. The vaccination plan is designed to protect the most vulnerable first, while achieving the goal of attaining her immunity as quickly as possible.

Of course, they could have continued following the Trump vaccination plan which was ... what was it again? -Looking high and low- Oh yeah. He didn't HAVE one.

Isn’t that like saying Lord Fauci didn’t have a plan lol.

It’s misinformation that Trump didn’t have a plan. WV is doing well [under Trump’s plan] with their scheme so that raises the question of what’s wrong with the other *states*.

That’s been a repeating pattern throughout this affair. The democrats have politicized it every step of the way. Blame is *always* shifted to Trump, regardless of facts to the contrary. The fact in this instance is its largely up to the states to distribute the vaccines.

I also noticed it’s suddenly ok to talk about herd immunity. The WHO revised its PCR cycle guidelines which guarantees a drop in numbers since it will cut down on false positives. I wouldn’t be surprised if they ‘discovered’ HCQ was effective after all.

As predicted, the election changed many things related to the China virus

WV is only vaccinating people in nursing homes?

And waiting until they are all done before anyone else can get vaccinated?

I read where they are leading the country in vaccinations but I don’t know the specifics.

The point is the problem is apparently on the state and not the federal level. Not everything can be Trump’s fault.

That would be impossible even for Trump lol.

Hello Darth,

I also noticed it’s suddenly ok to talk about herd immunity.

The difference is having the vaccines.

It was absurd to seek herd immunity without one. We had 1 or 2 percent of the population infected and the hospitals were at capacity. There was no way to achieve herd immunity before the vaccines without tragic consequences. To seek it as the virus was first spreading was pure insanity; nothing but wishful thinking.

And the idea of only vaccinating those in nursing homes first as a way of cutting the highest death numbers just so the economy could be restarted, while allowing the virus to spread unchecked among the rest of the population is ridiculous. There are tons of othe vulnerable people besides those in nursing homes. And they are not who is spreading the disease. The 20-49 age group is responsible for most of the virus spread. They are working where possible, often ignoring guidelines. And going to bars and other gatherings, casually impulse shopping, blowing off the precautions. That's what's causing the pandemic to be so bad. We must stay on Dr Fauci's plan to get as much of the population vaccinated as quickly as possible while logically concentrating first on the older and more vulnerable population.

Dr Fauci is smart, and so are we to listen to him.

Nice backpedalling job.

It is a very popular view in America that the pandemic would not be so bad had it not been for Trump. America is overall very pleased with the switch from Trump to Biden on the pandemic response:

"The ABC News/Ipsos poll determined that 69 percent of respondents approved of Biden's handling of the pandemic in his first few days as president, a difference from former President Trump's mostly underwater ratings on the same issue.

[Trump NEVER got that much approval on ANYTHING]

The president's approval includes 40 percent of Republicans, 97 percent of Democrats and 70 percent of independents. The highest percentage of support that Trump had earned came from 55 percent of Americans in mid-March last year, including 30 percent of Democrats.

Specifically, the administration received 81 percent approval for an executive order signed on Inauguration Day mandating masks and social distancing in federal buildings and on federal land.

A majority of Republicans, at 59 percent, backed the measure, as well as overwhelming majorities of Democrats and independents, at 99 percent and 83 percent, respectively.

Biden's overall approval for the transition of power sat at 67 percent, reviving the tradition of presidents receiving high marks for their first months in office before approval numbers drop. His predecessor had broken that trend after 40 percent approved of how Trump handled the transition."

The Hill: More than two-thirds of Americans approve of Biden's coronavirus response: poll

That would put your unpopular minority Republican view in the rather distinct minority, Darth.

The poll numbers reflect the success the democrat media had in pinning the China virus on Trump. The drum beat was constant and as I pointed out, Trump did little to help himself *politically*.

But those are only one set of facts.

The other set of facts are these: the CCP was lying to the world about human to human transmission *while* they were allowing as many ten thousand Chinese nationals to fly to this country from Wuhan province.

I think by now, all of us realize that spells disaster when you’re dealing with a virus that can spread by asymptomatic spread. The apolitical fact is that NO ONE, not Trump, not Fauci, not Biden if he jumped in a time machine and became President last January, was going to change the ultimate outcome in terms of total deaths.

To be blunt, we were screwed, by the CCP, before Trump could ever think to call it a democrat hoax.

That, is a fact.

It is Trump's fault because he ceded all this to the states.

He was too lazy to come up with a federal plan.

So now we have patchwork state action that is not consistent, which is only going to make it more difficult to get this thing under control.

The poll numbers reflect the success the democrat media had in pinning the China virus on Trump.

It is on Trump because he didn't take this thing seriously from the start.

He lied about it.

He ignored it.

He downplayed it.

And he praised China at least 15 times during the first two months of this.

Had he taken this seriously when he was first informed about this in 2019, we wouldn't be in this situation today.

BTW - most of the infected came from Europe, not China, and Trump was one of the last to put travel restrictions on China, and Europe ended up putting travel restrictions on us.

The other set of facts are these: the CCP was lying to the world about human to human transmission *while* they were allowing as many ten thousand Chinese nationals to fly to this country from Wuhan province.

Lies. Complete and total lies.

Trump was informed of this by our Intelligence Community in November and December of 2019.

No one -I REPEAT NO ONE- assumed this virus wasn't transmissible, and our IC even warned of that in multiple memos during the end of 2019.

So what you're doing here is continuing to lie about the virus, which is only making it more difficult for us to get past it.

To be blunt, we were screwed, by the CCP, before Trump could ever think to call it a democrat hoax.

No we fucking weren't.

South Korea got their first case the same day we did, and South Korea took it seriously enough that they managed to keep the virus under control, and now they get to have live sports, music, and movies.

You are STILL calling this a hoax, even after 400,000+ have died from it.

That, is a fact.

No, that is your opinion. Calling your opinion 'a fact' does not make it one.

People have a hard time distinguishing facts from opinions. It is very bad for our country that so many struggle with this.

It is my opinion that if Trump had been removed from office in January 2020 as he should have been, that hundreds of thousands of Americans who died in the pandemic would be alive today. Because Trump made following the recommended guidelines a political statement, the pandemic became far more widespread than it would have if there had been a consistent message from our government and leadership.

Blaming China does not solve the problem. We have never relied on China for our security. That is a responsibility we must bear. Compare our pandemic response with Taiwan. Taiwan sits right off the coast from Wuhan. There are normally thousands of people who travel back and forth between Taiwan and Wuhan daily. Taiwan didn't trust China with their security. They took matters in their own hands. As we should have done. (Instead we had Trump praising China and claiming the virus would magically go away.) Many on the right used to argue that it would quickly go away. We don't hear that nonsense any more.

Taiwan didn't believe what Peking was telling the world. As soon as Taiwan suspected there was a possible novel coronavirus, they sent teams to Wuhan to investigate it. When they learned (very early on) that there was indeed a novel coronavirus, they shut down all that travel with Wuhan, and they implemented stringent quarantine measures for any travelers coming in. They also have a more unified nation with people who listen to their government. The pandemic was never made political by any part of leadership. The government measures had strong cooperation by the people. There were no anti-maskers. What a difference that has made. Taiwan has a total of (8) deaths. After all this time, and being so close to Wuhan, only (8) deaths. Phenomenal. Their population roughly equals that of Florida, which has had 26,825 deaths.

It absolutely matters what the government does to handle a pandemic!

Your opinion about Trump and the death count is baseless and not shared by anyone who is taken seriously. Fauci is no fan of Trump and he wouldn’t come within a hundred miles of such a claim.

My point about the CCP role/guilt in this is a fact. You are welcome to refute it—if you’re able to.
