Corona Virus Peak Watch Thread

Forcing young healthy people to quarantine is both grotesque and obnoxious.

Not to mention bad for their mental health.
My granddaughters and sons are doing just fine! Their parents make sure they have lots of physical outdoor activities. They associate with their friends whose families have been quarantined. People are finding ways in the new normal to keep their kids safe.

Hello Darth,

Forcing young healthy people to quarantine is both grotesque and obnoxious.

Not to mention bad for their mental health.

The inconvenience of some can not be prioritized over the life-and-death of others.

People should WANT to help protect their fellow Americans.

If they don't, the government should force them to.

And the ones that aren’t coping as well? Should we google suicide rates amongst young people and check on the current trends?

It raises the question of which is worse, the virus or the response it?

Hello Darth,

The inconvenience of some can not be prioritized over the life-and-death of others.

People should WANT to help protect their fellow Americans.

If they don't, the government should force them to.

I’ve heard quite enough about ‘inconveniences’.

This ‘new normal’ dystopia needs to be rejected.

The virus is far worse. 200,000 dead

The collateral damage from the pandemic continues: Young adults, as well as Black and Latino people of all ages, describe rising levels of anxiety, depression and even suicidal thoughts, and increased substance abuse, according to findings reported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

In a research survey, U.S. residents reported signs of eroding mental health in reaction to the toll of coronavirus illnesses and deaths, *and to the life-altering restrictions imposed by lockdowns.*

Stupidity on steroids. People like you are why this virus has killed 200,000 and counting...

Over 40% of the *200,000 were nursing home residents with an average ‘life span’ of 13 months.

How many young people has mitigation killed in the meantime? How many young drug addicts and alcoholics is it producing?

That is to be expected. It is only logical that stressful situations are going to be difficult for those who are normally under a lot of stress. The key thought here is that dropping all of the measures used to fight the virus is not going to produce a stress-free condition. Simply having a deadly pandemic rip through society is stressful in itself.

It should also be noted that Trump supporters would normally not care about the plight of depressed people.

It is a 'fake concern.' The only reason there is any attention being given to the situation by Trump supporters is because of the coronavirus.

Coronavirus goes away? Trump supporter concern for the mentally anguished goes away just as fast.

This sounds as crass as the guy in Texas who thought old people should 'take one for the economy.'

How many of those young people would be drug addicts which includes alcoholism because alcohol is a drug, anyway?

Hello Darth,

This sounds as crass as the guy in Texas who thought old people should 'take one for the economy.'
It is absolutely crass. Mistakes were made in the beginning, but deaths now continue because of people like Darth and others who have no regards for others and slowing the transmission of this disease.

Well, at one point do we start to consider the collateral damage from mitigation? Or is there any point?

Just ignore it and keep harping on the 200,000* because it makes Trump look bad?

If I were in a nursing home and able to string two coherent thoughts together I would say ‘what the hell are you doing sacrificing young people for me?’

Hello Phantasmal,

It is absolutely crass. Mistakes were made in the beginning, but deaths now continue because of people like Darth and others who have no regards for others and slowing the transmission of this disease.

They so dearly wish the pandemic was nothing to concern over as they inadvertently make the pandemic worse than it has to be.

They bring about their own worst fears, and we are all along for the ride.

The result of insolent intransigence is impudent transmission.
