Europe surpasses daily Covid-19 tally peak reached in spring, with 100,000 new infections recorded for first time
More than 100,000 new Covid cases have been reported across Europe in one 24-hour period for the first time, as the continent struggles with the second wave of the virus and many nations record their highest-ever infection rates.
The second wave of the novel coronavirus appears to be hitting Europe harder than the first, at least when it comes to the spread of the virus. Statistics presented by the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control on Friday suggest that the infection rates throughout the continent have been higher than at the spring peak in late March and April, since at least mid-September.

The number of Serious and Critical Cases continues to rise.
This is a forewarning of a possible rise in deaths.
We are all in this together. We depend on one another to protect each other.
Some of us are letting the rest down.
Wearing a mask and distancing is more about protecting others and saving yourself.
Democrats who are more likely to wear masks and observe distancing care more about their fellow citizens than Republicans.
Caring about the well-being of your neighbors is more patriotic than being selfish.

The tragedy goes on and on.
The virus is coming on strong because we are letting it.
We could take more steps to prevent that, but we just have too many people who think the economy or political points are more important than the lives of those who are being lost. People like that tend to change their minds as soon as tragedy happens to them or somebody close to them, but until and unless that happens, they don't care about their fellow Americans.
We could put this thing away if we were united.
The pandemic clearly shows it is an American weakness to be bitterly divided politically.
The nations with a unified response are doing much better.
Stop hating on your neighbors, people. They are people just like you who have every right to exist that you do. People everywhere have the same basic needs. We all want a good life. That shouldn't depend on disregarding the rights of others.
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men [people] are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."
