Meanwhile I bet if I took a poll more people here would describe me as sane and coherent than SF. Am I right?
Well let's see!

A good first step to recovery... admitting when you are wrong... Kudos
Listen. I respect women, in general. However, knowing the gentleman that I am, if a woman ever dared to get in my face and point finger, I hope I have the wherewithal to walk away. I'm telling you now, there is no guarantee. A woman doesn't have the right to put her finger in the face of a man, as much as he doesn't have the right to put his finger in her face. Women are behind bars for malice, murder and mayhem. Some, undoubtedly, resulting from a woman pointing her finger in the face of a man. Self defense is allowed.
FYI, I don't think it's ok to hit a woman. A woman that is acting like a woman....sane and coherent. A woman trying to harm you, all bets are off. Now, if you think that is being unreasonable, and I'm supposed to wind up dead, with my hands tied behind my back, then go do yourself.
It's happened on one occasion. She called the police, who informed her, that since I was paying rent, she couldn't evict me. I eventually removed myself from the situation.
I don't intend for that to ever happen again. I would walk away....I think. But nobody puts their hands on nobody....especially me. All bets are off.
Just don't bring a lesbian into the conversation, because they scare poet and he might hit them.

Yes, you're right they would be going apeshit about it. But that is the nature of US politics, I can't help feeling though that she must be laughing all the way to the polling booth about it. However, as Maggie Thatcher said about the IRA in Northern Ireland, you shouldn't give them the oxygen of publicity. One further thing though, that man who shouted liar at Obama should have been banned from Capitol Hill, for a period of time, for his transgression.
would you consider a chorus of boos during the state of the union a public display of respect?Originally Posted by Taichiliberal
The POINT I and others are making is that NO Democrat Congressman or Senator gave a public display of disrespect to the Shrub ( note I call him that, as did radio jocks, but NOT Dem politicos) on the level that they have and are doing to Obama. Period. YOU just confirmed that, so don't try weaseling/waffeling on that acknowledgement.
no.
now, answer this question: did a republican ever boo obama during a SOTU? Not to my immediate recollection, and NEITHER DID A DEMOCRAT
yes, a democratic senator said bush is not qualified and is inexperienced (same as "over his head")

What Theron did is what women of every race, creed and color due when they are trying to be "nice" to a friend they KNOW could not compete with them for the attention of the majority of men in the room. A matter of history and fact of which I was NOT trying to pin a racial overtone to.
I was referring to the discussion taking place among self-identified black women, underneath the original link. Some of the things I read there indicated that some black women believe that the standard of "hotness" in our culture is a white standard, which is often unconscious. And that because Berry is half-white, and her skin is not that dark, she fits a white standard of beauty more than the darker-skinned Davis. There was even a lot of discussion of how some black men have this view. But their bottom line was that a dark-skinned woman like Davis was not going to be offered roles as a sex interest.
Now, I'm not a black woman so I really can't say. But it was a very interesting discussion, and taichi, I really don't think it's a discussion your or I are going to make the finalized decision on.
That was from the civilian audience....NOT the Dem Senators or Congressmen.

Taichi, are you saying the background noise during the speech is from civilians and not people in Congress?
Who? And was this AFTER the Shrub became President?
Grumbling to be sure, (which is standard fare over the decades) but I'm not hearing "BOOOOO!" or "Liar"...... So I really don't know where Yurtle and company are getting this exact comparison crap.

that is simply not true and i think you know it. if you don't, open your eyes.
TED KOPPEL (ABC host): When the president talked about the bankruptcy of Social Security, there were clearly some Democrats on the floor who thought that that was taking it too far. And they did something that, apparently, no one at this table has ever heard before. They booed. [ABC, Nightline, 2/2/05; Koppel's panel consisted of former Bush adviser Mary Matalin, former Reagan chief of staff Ken Duberstein, and former Clinton speechwriter Michael Waldman]
JOHN ROBERTS (CBS White House correspondent): At a couple points in this address, it looked more like the British Parliament than the United States Congress. I've never heard the minority party shout at the president during the State of the Union address. [CBS, post-speech coverage, 2/2/05]
lieberman for starters.
you're being disengious by claiming that only "you lie" is the only disrespectful thing a politician has ever done to a president.
I'm not scared of anyone. And a lesbian might hit you....and dare you to do something about it. Are you serious? Some don't abide men, and will cut you. You'll be dead. Don't play.
