Fellow Christians, what does this passage mean to you?

He took it out of the other thread that he started with the same topic because of verses that others posted that showed the full context of what this meant. He expects them to be lazy and not transfer their posts, usually it works. At some point I am going to start merging all his threads that are on the same topic with hardly any difference between them so that people can see the full context of his posts to begin with...

Bullshit, I resent that after all of these years you fail to give me the benefit of the doubt. I started a new thread to see what people who were not in the other thread thought. I happen to agree with your assessment of the passage, personally I belive that the word of God intended for men and women to be equal in relationships and to have equal power and rolls in the family dynamic. I simply belive that many Christians do not belive this and many women suffer due to the teachings of many Churches. I know many women and men who belvie that women are to be subservent to there husbands because "the bible says so." It is clear that they interperate the passage in a different way than you and me. I can see how, I suspect that the translation of this passage was done intentionally to promote the subjation of women.

So in this senario, what is the difference between the role of the Husband and that of the wife? Who makes the family decisions?

IN a pratical sense what does it mean to treat a man as if he is Jesus, and what does it mean to love someone like Jesus loves the Church?

Nobody wants to try to answer this question? See post #5 for context.

if you're talking about me, you're dead wrong. "you guys" indicates you're including me. and nothing is further from the truth.

but glad to know you have nothing to add but "they do it too mommy".....all the while whining when others do that

hypocrite

Oh please. I've seen numerous posts from you and others using stand alone verses to condemn Islam. You take your info from Christian sites like answeringislam and won't even read rebuttals from Muslims. At least be honest about it.

That will be the day I leave this cite. They are different topics. New threads attact new participants and new opinions. I am not trying to quote this out of context, clearly the context does not change the meaning.

Actually, it doesn't. You are making the same mistake Jughead made in another thread, and assuming that "submit to" means the same thing as "subservient." It's a common misinterpretation, and I'm not saying some Christians don't believe exactly that, but it's not what the passage says, and that is what we have to go by.

It's a distinction without a difference.

Are you trying to chase great posters away? You have had a bit of a mean streak, lately. Hope you are feeling alright.

You notice it is mostly the man who claim that it doesn't mean what it says...and yet, this is the passage they use to keep us barefoot and pregnant and looking to their authority!

Why does a woman have to treat her husband as if he were Jesus (God) and the husband does not have to treat his wife the same? If your savior is not the leader, who is? If Jesus tells a Christian to behave a certian way.. are they not expected to do so?

cite one. and btw....do cite one where the stand alone sura cannot actually stand alone. unlike the bible, large portions of the quran have stand alone verses.

then again, if you actually did your research, you would know this.

let's see you back up your claim. after all....there are "numerous" posts, so it should be quite simple for you to get one.

i have no idea why you keep lying that i don't read rebuttals from muslims. i spent over a year on an islamic board getting rebuttals and links to rebuttals. that is HONEST, unlike you who doesn't do the research herself and instead takes the words of others. i posted numerous information about quranic verses recently and of course you never had a rebuttal for a single thing i posted.

i wonder why

" Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God. Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and He is the saviour of the body. "

If you translate it properly, it means 'Jarod is a douche bag'
