Red Dawn

The Soviet Union lost over 20 million of its citizens in WWII or what is called the great patriotic war , they are sensitive of being surrounded by NATO

I am thankful to the Red Army

On January 27, 1945, Soviet troops enter Auschwitz, Poland, freeing the survivors of the network of concentration camps—and finally revealing to the world

Great Movie! Couldn't care less about the Ukraine. Nope, do not want war, let them figure it out. protect innocent civilians that is all!

We should always care when nations engage in unprovoked military invasions of their neighbors.

Otherwise, we might as well rip up all the international treaties we painstakingly negotiated, and just live by the law of the jungle -- might makes right.

Most Rightwingers acquired their knowledge of Russia and Russian strategic goals from watching the cult classic Red Dawn.

My predictions on the Ukraine situation >

1). Less than one percent chance of open war between Russia and USA, despite the alarmists pooping their diapers.

2). Zero percent chance Biden sends American forces into Ukraine. He has openly said as much.

3). Less than a three percent chance Russia launches a full scale invasion of Ukraine, with the goal of capturing Kiev and occupying the country.

Putin is not that stupid. A full scale invasion imposes enormous military and economic costs on Russia. Ukraine is not Chechnya, Georgia, or Moldava. Ukraine is a large country with a substantial military, capable of inflicting significant damage. Western economic sanctions would dwarf those seen after Crimea.

There is no significant domestic political victory Putin earns with a conquest of Ukraine. Most Russians consider Ukraine to be their little Slavic brothers; waging war on them is not something garden variety Russians want. It is not the same as fighting the "dirty" Muslim terrorists in Chechnya. A conquest of Ukraine is not a substantial domestic political win for Putin justifying the costs incurred.

4). Better than 50 percent chance Putin will order border incursions, asymmetric warfare, limited military strikes to destabilize Ukraine, test western resolve, and support ethnic Russian populations in border regions of Ukraine.
I agree if any thing it would be a "minor incursion" as Biden says. Putin doesnt want an occupation.
But the Russiaphobes are screaming otherwise

Then they sent the Jews to Siberia? ;)

What about you Russophiles? Do you spit out Putin's cock long enough to scream too? ;)

Like space aliens always wanting to land in the desert of New Mexico.

You would think the military objective of Russian airborne forces would be to secure brides, key transportation networks, strategic choke points, instead of attacking a high school and slaughtering the children.

But this was the era of Reagan's Evil Empire, so a high school massacre just made for good Kabuki theater.

The plan was to take the Rockies as a defensible position while splitting US forces. The rest of the invasion came from land and/or sea.

It's a standard tactic similar to the Marine Corp's vertical envelopment and also mimicked the tactic the Soviets used to invade Afghanistan. Not so much Reagan as Hollywood copying actual Russian tactics.

I know, I am making fun of the poetic licence in the beginning of the film, where the airborne battalion's tactical objective was to attack a high school and shoot students.

The high school was just in the way. The objective was the town since towns are usually key road and railroad conjunction points.

Still, standard Hollywood trope to clearly identify who are the good guys and who are the bad guys. :)

PS. another Hollywood trope is to make the final battle between the Hero and the Villain to be a long fight with the Villain almost winning. It's not as fun if the Hero just walks up and caps the Villain in the back of the head....or picks them off with a sniper shot.

For diaper-poopers, I present a trailer from the rightwing classic, Red Dawn

Wolverines! That was a great movie!

Hey shitbird, the chancellor of Germany has said that if Putin invades Ukraine, he will not buy any pipeline gas, ever.

There will be no invasion. It's over! Biden can now talk smack like he did it.

Ukrainians ain't no chumps, either. Unfortunately their US installed leader is a Nazi, but they're not going to go quietly into the night.

I still cannot get my head around why the US supported a Nazi's rise to power in Ukraine, but they did. :dunno:

Not sure if that was during the Bush or Obama days.

Being that grandpappy Bush bankrolled the original Nazis, I would guess Bush, but Idk. :dunno:

It's not like Obama was all into that, I don't think.

Matt, you're going to get chapped lips if you keep sucking Putin's cock. Here, let me help:

You know it was only just a few years back that the TRUMPTARD himself- DONALD TRUMP was trying to end our membership and our leadership in the NATO alliance!

Of course, this was all about Donald Trump's brain-farted idea to flirt with Putin so he could acquire loans from 3rd world Russian Banks and BUILD TRUMP TOWERS, hotels, and Resorts in Russia for his own financial Gain!

BUT JUST THINK- Had he won the 2020 election- WE WOULD ALREADY HAVE ABANDONED NATO by now and WE WOULD BE IN AN ENTIRELY SET OF DIFFERENT CIRCUMSTANCES RIGHT NOW.

This is not a war with the US and RUSSIA! This is a war between the allied nations and RUSSIA!

The question is- DOES RUSSIA THINK THEY HAVE THE BALLS TO CHALLENGE THE ENTIRE ALLIED FORCES?

I seriously doubt that Putin has the Balls for that!

You seem to have homosexual fellatio on your mind quite frequently. You want to help sucking Putin's cock? Treat yo'self!

That's not my problem. You do you, brah. :)

I'm not into that.

It was a great film when I was 22 years old, and I still like it.

But I am glad my taste matured into having an affinity for war films that are more morally ambiguous and realistic.

The Ukraine government is corrupt and hardly an ideal democracy. That is precisely why NATO says they do not qualify for alliance membership at this time.

But Ukraine is no worse than some of our other partners, like Saudi Arabia, who Donald Trump absolutely loved.

Wrapping up: we also have an obligation to uphold international law and standards of conduct in the face of Putin's aggression.
