"Florida Gets Welfare From New York"

Ah, let me see if I can explain it simple enough for even you to understand it

Blue States pay Federal income tax to the Federal Gov't. Blue States get less back from the Federal Gov't, a lot less, than they have paid to the Federal Gov't.

Red States pay Federal Income tax to the Federal Gov't, but unlike the Blue States, they also get more in return from that Federal Gov't than they paid in to the Federal Gov't

Now, lets see if you can figure it out, if Blue States gets less in return than they paid while the Red States gets more in return than they paid where do you think that additional money the Red States received came from?

Clearly you don't understand how government works. But I'll play your game my tax money is used by the central government to build and mantain highways and bridges in blue states. So using your fucked up logic I am subsidizing your roads. Get it?

Oh ye of little understanding! The point is that blue states pay more to the central government than they get back, while red states get more back than they pay in.

So fucking what? Life isn't fair. Show me anything in the constitution that all states will be evenly reinbursed by the federal government.

Got to love these guys, now they want documentation even though I gave it to them in the intial post

Let me make it real simple for you, those who can no longer deduct SALT are hurt the most, duh, which coincidentally, are the same States that even before Trump's tax debacle, were paying more in Federal Tax then was returned to the State, while the Red States enjoyed the exact opposite relationship.

Bottom line, those that can no longer use SALT are going to pay even more to subsidize Red States, some would refer to that as income redistribution, a tenant of socialism, the same socialism supposedly the natives of those Red States tell us they hate but are happy to live off other States' dime when it works for them

Got it

If I am not mistaken, the inability to deduct SALT taxes impacts ALL 50 states not just the 12. Are you saying that the law that was passed only applied to 12 states?

If it applies to ALL 50 states, then all 50 states are harmed equally right? Why would 12 be harmed in excess? Can you explain the disparity?

Diversion again. The point is that red states are being subsidized by the blue states.
IOW, the states that complain the most about welfare are on welfare.

The first one is funny, seen it twice, so now your telling us Florida gets more of the Federal dime because they have a lot of people collecting SS? So how does that explain the rest of the Red States cashing in on the Blue States dime? Inane argument

Those States you claim have been paying less is wrong, they have paid more even with the SALT deduction, as the point of the topic, they have been subsidizing Red States for decades, those not paying their fair share are those Red States including Florida living off what States as NY pays

It's funny to you because it destroys your argument. Florid has a heavy population relative to the rest of the South so what goes on there with respect to this subject goes a long way. Plus there are a lot of transplant retirees in the other Southern states as well, folks who see Florida as overcrowded, too flat, too hot, too one-dimensional.

Actually I'm right on the second issue as well, and you offer no explanation as to why you think otherwise, again because facts are not on your side.

You are mistaken. Nothing new there. What happened was that there was a limit put on how much one could deduct in SALT taxes. That mostly affected high tax states.

Ahhhhhh, so states with HIGH state taxes are impacted the greatest?

So what you are saying is that someone who lives in a progressive, HIGH TAX state is impacted more by the elimination of the SALT deduction than someone in a low tax state?

Why are they impacted more? Get very specific

You're really not very bright or well-informed, are you? As I said before, the SALT deduction wasn't eliminated, it was capped. Someone in a high tax state who previously had a SALT deduction of $10,000, now only has a deduction of $5,000. Someone in a lower tax state who previously had a deduction of $4,000 still has that same deduction. So taxpayers in high tax states were affected more than taxpayers in lower tax states.

You are correct. It wasn't eliminated. My apologies.

So lets dig deeper into the bolded shall we? With an uncapped SALT deduction wouldn't that mean that HIGH tax states are having their high taxes subsidized by the rest of the country by allowing their people to write off their HIGH taxes on their federal returns? Didn't the SALT deduction make it less likely that people would squawk about their higher property taxes because they knew that in the aggregate it would just get washed away at tax time and in essence they weren't really paying those high taxes they were merely offloading it onto the rest of the country?

In effect for many HIGH tax states the SALT deduction was a federal subsidy for those RICH blue states. The RICH were foisting their tax burden off on the poor states. And now the rich are mad about losing their loophole.

Well, cry me an ocean. The fix is simple. Those states should lower their taxes and bring them into parity with the rest of the country. Problem solved.

Let me see if I can explain it so a third grader can comprehend the facts

Blue States pay Federal income tax to the Federal Gov't. Blue States get less back from the Federal Gov't, a lot less, than they have paid to the Federal Gov't.. It has been this way for a long time, even long before SALT was eliminated

Blue states should not be bitching about this at all. They do like to sell themselves as compassionate states, love everyone, every time their state anthem plays you can hear fucking Kumbaya in the background. Those states and their majority Democrat parties love to portray themselves as the party of the less fortunate and downtrodden. So.....put your monies where your mouths are and gladly pay the fuck up!

Another one who misses the point, it is red state socialism, income redistribution, the same people who shout and scream that socialism is threatening the United States are comfortably living in a socialist system where upon those Blue States are funding Red States, says it all

No one is missing the point at all. Live up to what you Democrats say you do. That would be a first guaranteed, but it might be a start.
