Zelensky bans free press, bans opposition, arrests opposition leader.

Not a bad try- but the leader of the opposition is not a ' dissident ' and neither are opposition politicians.

Again- why would the Russians release dissidents ...................and then poison them ?

Why is Navalny a dissident in Russia? Is it because he is a leader of the opposition?

Keep digging. You are only revealing your lack of morals, ethics and logic.

Why is Navalny a dissident in Russia? Is it because he is a leader of the opposition?

In July 2013, Navalny received a suspended sentence for embezzlement.[10][11] Despite this, he was allowed to run in the 2013 Moscow mayoral election and came in second, with 27% of the vote, outperforming expectations but losing to incumbent mayor Sergey Sobyanin, a Putin appointee.[12] In December 2014, Navalny received another suspended sentence for embezzlement

Navalny launched his presidential campaign for the 2018 presidential election but was barred by Russia's Central Election Commission (CEC) after registering due to his prior criminal conviction; the Russian Supreme Court subsequently rejected his appeal

In January 2021, Navalny returned to Russia and was immediately detained on accusations of violating parole conditions while he was in Germany which were imposed as a result of his 2014 conviction

In March 2022, Navalny was sentenced to an additional nine years in prison after being found guilty of embezzlement and contempt of court in a new trial.[42]

Navalny is of Russian and Ukrainian descent

That's the legal perspective.

Keep digging. You are only revealing your lack of morals, ethics and logic.

Navalny is a fool. You're pretty foolish yourself.
There are many countries which do not allow the political participation of anybody with a criminal conviction- yet he was allowed to participate .
Whether he had a case against the Russian state or not he blew it by being stupid.

I just posted a long article https://www.salon.com/2022/03/10/ar...g-for-ukraine-well-yes--but-its-a-long-story/
Im not here to explain it -read it.

as to the coup that was US led (Kagan, Nuland, John McCain on the ground) - overthrowing the "pro Russian" Yanukovych (pro-Russia is simplistic but enough for this) basically caused the war in Donbas
That's also what Putin refers to - if not 100% accurate-

The article explains a far Right or "Neo-Nazi" element and a coup seven years ago that formed a new government that has sidelined that element and given Ukraine a current, broadened democracy. Not exactly an
excuse for destructive intervention by a highly undemocratic superpower.

you are not even trying.
That was just Svoboda that was "sidelined. You aren't even looking at at Azov Batallion and its current reach.

I'm not here to play games -read it and digest it before you comment again.
here is a redact:
~~

Despite Svoboda's declining success in national elections, neo-Nazi and extreme nationalist groups, increasingly linked to the Azov Battalion, have maintained power on the street in Ukraine, and in local politics in the Ukrainian nationalist heartland around Lviv in western Ukraine.

After President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's election in 2019, the extreme right threatened him with removal from office, or even death, if he negotiated with separatist leaders from Donbas and followed through on the Minsk Protocol
,,,Zelenskyy had run for election as a "peace candidate," but under threat from the right, he refused to even talk to Donbas leaders, whom he dismissed as terrorists.

the failures of neoliberalism have fueled the rise of right-wing extremism and racism

If true, it is Ukraine's problem. What is the great threat to Russia?

if what is true? WTF are you talking about. Do you even understand Russia's role in the Great Patriotic War?

stop wasting my time, This is at least part of the de-Nazification Putin was talking about.
Ukraine under Zelensky is a threat to Russia im not going all over all the reasons again
Ukraine is a hostile militarized state that uses neoNazi's militias in Donbas as well (article)

You're the definition of a waste of time, a "full-of-himself" with nothing to say. What this forum seems to be a magnet for.

ive gone over it so many times.
have you not read my posts on the westernization of Kyiv, coupled with militarization, US meddling in the Maidan?
yet you want me to spoon feed it all again?
You can't even digest an article
So you are wasting my time

I guess if you charge your political opponents with trumped up charges then you can prevent them from running for office.

It seems you are an even bigger fool.
Medvedchuk was under house arrest since his arrest last year for treason. He escaped from custody before being arrested again.
That sounds a lot like Russian activity where they charge the political opposition with crimes. You don't get to claim Russia can do it but Ukraine can't without revealing your lack of morals, ethics and logic.

Many countries do that- but, as I said, dumbass- the Russians let him stand for election.

For the THIRD fucking time, dumbass- the Russians let him stand for election.
Now, I don't know if you're stupid or pissed- but this is going nowhere - so drop it.

When was Navalvy allowed to run for President or any national office? Your own link shows he was not allowed to run for such an office.

Countries have the right to self-determination. Putin is taking Ukraines rights away with violence. Ukraine has been getting militarized. if you pay attention, you will see that Putin is showing why that was needed. NATO rejected Ukraines entry. However Ukraine has a right to determine their government and who they choose to align with. The west was not going to attack Russia.

no NATO did not reject Ukraine membership.
It s still part of NATO expansion as well by the NATO Open Doors enlargement policy. (Article 10)
https://www.nato.int/docu/comm/1999/9904-wsh/pres-eng/04open.pdf

On 12 June 2020, Ukraine joined NATO's enhanced opportunity partner interoperability program

Ukraine applied to integrate with a NATO Membership Action Plan (MAP) in 2008. Plans for NATO membership were shelved by Ukraine following the 2010 presidential election in which Viktor Yanukovych, who preferred to keep the country non-aligned, was elected President.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ukraine–NATO_relations

(like I said the Euromaidan revolution turned Ukraine into a hostile pro-forma NATO state)

I wouldn't do it, you wouldn't do it, but if nobody did it then most of the world would be run by dictators like Putin and his buddy Lukashenko.

Maybe that's what you want? Or maybe not. The more I see of your thinking, moon, the less I understand where you're coming from.
