"You’re a f—ing plague and the locals f—ing hate you. Leave."

I have seen polar bears on an island off the southern tip of Greenland.

You can not outrun them.

You can't outrun any bear. Forget climbing a tree, they can climb better than you can. Best be armed with a large caliber weapon!

Citizens are hating immigrants. Apparently people don't like them not speaking the native language and businesses changing to better serve them.

An influx of Californians and other Americans has made its way to Mexico City, angering some locals who say they are gentrifying the area, according to a report.

The Los Angeles Times report on Wednesday outlined how some Mexican locals are "fed up" with the growing number of Americans, many from California, moving to and visiting the country, which has contributed to a rise in rent and a shift from Spanish to English in some places.

"New to the city? Working remotely?" fliers popping up around Mexico City reportedly said. "You’re a f—ing plague and the locals f—ing hate you. Leave."......

I guess they don't like Californians :dunno:

Like they can tell by the way someone looks what state they're from.

Ever watch that International House Hunter show on HGTV? (I think that's the network.) Many episodes feature Americans moving to Mexico or other S. or C. American countries. The real estate agents always steer them to what are mostly enclaves of ex-pats who speak English and all hang together, usually in high-rises and condos. The rents/house prices are ridiculously high. Occasionally someone will want to live "authentically" and then they're shown properties that are a lot more affordable and that look like you would expect, not all stainless steel appliances, a/c, swimming pools, etc. BTW the searchers on the shows come from all over the U.S., often from colder climates.

Nobody conversant in only one language has a reasonable right to criticize somebody who's only conversant in a different language--regardless of where both happen to be.

Most Americans are under-educated to an embarrassing extent.

I've done post-graduate study, but have no actual graduate degree, just a baccalaureate. I feel under-educated.

We're paying the price for our lack of commitment to education.

The republic is in tatters in no small part due to that.

They've been taught by the American Left to hate this country and break its laws.

The LA Times had a big article on this. It's not exclusively Californians moving there but we are the largest group. I was serious when I said it's just like other Cities Californians move to and the locals get pissed. The claim in Mexico City is these Americans are gentrifying their neighborhoods and forcing locals to move out. To me that's the market in action but for those living in a place who don't like change I guess it's not a good thing.

This is your response to your complaint of Americans gentrifying neighborhoods in Mexico City? If we were more educated in the U.S. would we have less money and people couldn't afford to move anywhere and thus avoid what's happening in Mexico City?

No, it's not good for the locals. Wherever they are forced to move is bound to be less affordable. The same thing happens in American cities all the time. Older neighbors suddenly attract developers and businesses and residents, pushing out the (often elderly and often low-income) residents. It's an economic boost for the city in general but it sure isn't for those who lose their homes.

Being a real estate person this stuff intrigues me but I find interesting is back in the day they called it white flight when whites moved from the cities to the suburbs. And now that you have people moving from the suburbs back to the cities, they call it gentrification. People living in lower income areas understandably complain about lack of amenities, services etc. in their area but when those amenities and services do come they make the area more desirable and drive prices up. Short of putting restrictions on where people can move there's not much you can do about it.

People in Portland started putting anti-California stickers on For Sale signs because so many of us were moving there and driving up prices. Boise has gotten a lot of press from Californians driving up their property values.

One can say the extended lockdowns in California were justified but this is part of the fallout. We have returned to our offices at far lower rates than many other states and with so many people doing WFH they are choosing to live elsewhere and its causing havoc on those real estate markets.

Edit: To the last part people have been leaving California well before COVID but the article makes reference to the American population in Mexico City really rising after COVID and the extended WFH movement.

Hate is wrong. It's a mental condition that replaces logic in the mind. People who hate are stupid and/or insane. This explains the behavior of those in both the article and who attacked the Capitol on 1/6.

Yeah. Well it's going to be tough. I actually believe that the SHTF scenario will happen soon. Being deaf is a liability to myself and others.

You are correct,.... It IS. But if you're heart is in the right place you have nothing to fear. If God is with us who can stand against us? NOBODY! Jump on the bus with us.......Plenty of seats available! :)

Sorry for peppering you with two questions but I'm a real estate nerd so this stuff intrigues me. Do you believe people shouldn't be able to move? Because that is certainly one way to avoid gentrification and having people feel like their neighborhood is changing. I don't know how you handle a growing population in such a scenario. Just continue to build into the boonies and hinterlands for anyone new? How would more education change this basic issue?

The perfect thing about landmines in the zombie scenario? You don't have to bury them in the ground.

True. They're pretty fucking stupid. While landmines would be fun, in the Apocalypse, saving them for human threats is worth considering. Wire snares, tiger traps, deadfalls and other simple, reusable traps would be effective and easy to construct from scrap materials.

SHTF as in rolling blackouts because fat cat businessmen and fat cat politicians are more interested in profit than building for the future?

SHTF as in gain riots burning businesses in cities?

I strongly doubt the "civil war" fear-mongering/threatening bullshit coming from the Alt-Right. These fuckers will be shot down in the streets not long after they get off their bus.

My advice is for all citizens to buy themselves a Nazi-killler such as, my personal fav, an AK-47 or the more ubiquitous AR-15. A point that brings up why I know these numbnuts will fail.

The idiots choose the AR-15 because it's easy to "accessorize". Gun manufacturer and third-party manufacturers make more money off AR-15 accessories than on the ARs themselves. A much more effective urban weapon is the AK-47*. The AK is better for two primary reasons: reliable operation even by ill-trained people and the 7.62x39mm round is an all-around superior round. Cheaper too in bulk.

*As proved by it's predecessor the SKS and the Soviets in Third World nations around the world.

Hey at least they speak to the "immigrants" in their native language, can trumpers say the same?

20 years of negative net migration with Mexico has left a lot of American kids stuck in Mexico with their technically Mexican parents. The Mexicans are stuck with trying to educate kids who do not speak much Spanish.
