Yes, some Republican senators really are talking openly about Social Security cuts

Quite frankly, who gives a shit?

If you are relying on social security for your income in retirement, then you are a goddamned idiot. It's that simple. Social security is like a retirement plan for the lazy, stupid, insane, incompetent, and other losers in society.

If that's all you have it screams What? Were you really too stupid to save for retirement?!

But the stupidity of social security aside, let's assume that society is going to force it on you anyway. Then, it should be run as a retirement system that pays its own way. That is, it invests in things like the stock market, bonds, private sector, and gets a decent ROI on those investments. It isn't a slush fund to pay for anything else government is doing, like it is now.
You pay in and you get back most or all of what you put in with the interest received.

401K's and IRA's work that way and smart people invest their own money into these to have a decent retirement. Why should social security be any different?
 
This could not possibly be a problem for at least two years, and almost certainly not then either.

A lot of people can't afford to put much, if anything, into a 401k or IRA. And a lot of people who are able to put some into a retirement fund are still counting on SS as part of their income.

Get a clue, Trumper. Social Security supplements retirement, not funds it entirely. Most of the Trumpers on this forum rely on SS as part of their income, not just people you hate.

What idiots like you don't understand is that people who worked all their lives and had money taken out of their paychecks for SS deserve to get that money back with interest. Congress has used SS as a slush fund for years and now, with less workers, it's faltering which is why fucking morons like you are supporting eliminating it because you are, indeed, fucking morons.

They could certainly afford to put in as much as they are into FICA coming out of their pay right now if they didn't have to pay that tax. Social Security isn't free, and everybody is paying FICA taxes to finance it.

And it will cost the Democrats 2024. Clinton was smart enough to see which side his bread was buttered on and worked with Republicans to get stuff done. It got him reelected. Biden is too stupid and mean to do likewise.

I never claimed that SS is free. The current working class pays for the current retirees. According to basic arithmetic, SS will never run out.

And what most of us pay into FICA isn't enough to invest into a 401k or IRA and earn enough for retirement. It's recommended that the average worker should invent 10%-15% of their salary, which is something most can't do. SS helps make ends meet for many millions of retirees.

Thankfully, there is very little that happens in Washington that affects me. Biden will veto any efforts by Republicans to slash SS benefits. They can shut down the govt. again if they wish. That rarely works in their favor.
