Give it a little more time and the new right-wing gun expansion laws like the one in NY, will result in daily public shoot outs in the middle of NYC and other cities.

Here in my town, there have been three or four car to car highway shootings in just a matter of a couple of weeks, with one victim exiting an expressway after being shot in his pickup truck several times, then crashing into a tree and dying from his wounds.

Guess we need to start having "good guys with guns" patrolling every public place we go to, including the streets and highways. Just to protect us from all the lunatics with guns which there are just too fucking many of, thanks to the right-wing assholes.

Apparently you are unaware that NYC has shootouts every day already, that there are far more good guys with guns than bad guys with guns, and that you happen to live in the weirdness that is Florida (in Orlando, no less!).

Who are you to determine who is 'mentally qualified'?????!? You don't need training to use a gun, but it helps. In the Indiana case, he had no formal training, but was able to dispatch the mass shooter pretty quickly, saving a lot of lives.

If more citizens were armed it would be less rare. These mass shooters are cowards and purposely choose locations where they face minimum risk of someone shooting back. Fortunately the hero in this event had defied mall rules of no guns allowed on premises.

This is exactly what mass shooters do. They conduct their criminal activity where they don't think there is much of a threat of a citizen with a gun to stop him...such as schools.

They choose targets that they are familiar with and know the exits, and that have many targets. If the choices were made on the basis of armed vs not armed, then Texas wouldn't have so many mass shootings.
