No, they have to wait until they're 18, so there is ZERO reason to register them to vote until then. If voting is so important a thing, then registering to vote is at least as important as getting a license and no more hassle. Therefore, they should have to wait.
But both aforementioned bills that provision in them. The next step--and there's always a next step--would be to allow them to vote at 16 and 17. The point I'm making, and it's not about the driver's license, is that someone who isn't eligible to vote shouldn't be registered to vote.
That's quite a slippery slope you came up with there. I'll go get my sled! lol
I think it's a great idea and I approve of it. Any citizen who believes that voting is a sacred rite would agree. Our election participation rate has always been very low for a country whose citizens claim to love it so much. Anything to encourage participation is a good thing for everyone. It makes you feel as though you are part of something, that your voice can be heard. Why is that a bad thing? They're not mandating that you vote, nor will they.
Unless, of course, your #FatFelonFuehrer gets his way. Then our ballots will only say "Reichsfuehrer Trump." (I'd put a laugh emoji here but it's too possible to be funny.)
See? Both sides have their fears. Only ours are real.
