Mott the Hoople
Sweet Jane
I have to agree there. As a science major in college the ratio of men to women was ridiculous. Though my undergrad school was majority female it was rare that there was any women in my classes. There wasn’t a single female in my chemistry and physics classes and damned few in my biology classes. They were almost as rare as a jock in a science class but close.I've been waiting since the late 70's.
In grad school my class had around 120 students with less than 20 women. More than 6 to 1 male.
So when I started college they began a serious drive to encourage women to enter the STEM fields at all levels of education from primary to graduate school. That was over thirty years ago and that initiative to encourage women to enter STEM fields continue yet the disparity between men and women remains virtually the same.
On an anecdotal level virtually every college bound young lady I have encouraged to challenge themselves in a STEM field I have been met not with apathy or ignorance but outright hostility for mentioning it.
So it’s a real puzzler. Why are so many bright and able young women simply not interested in pursuing science and technology fields? Is it nature or nurture?

isn't getting them excited for the career of tomorrow
