In fact, I often wondered what would replace parties. I suppose the power of parties would b diminished by more parties. When I was young, 3rd and 4th parties were in the debates. The League Of Women Voters who run them made rules about how much money you have to raise and how much of a following is required to get in the debates. In short, they removed the small parties from the stage entrenching a 2 party system.
PBS has debates with only small parties and it is far more interesting and lively. They actually have ideas that do not make the rich richer. But absent the big stage, they are fading away.

If someone commits a crime, Republican or Democrat, they should be prosecuted. Period. Full stop. Clinton was not charged with any crime. Again, period. Full stop. Do you have a point? It would make things much more interesting if you did.

If Biden were a Republican, his son Bagman's laptop would have finished him as a politician entirely. He'd be under investigation by every law enforcement agency in the country and looking to be indicted for all sorts of felonious shit. The classified documents Biden had? As a Republican, there'd be calls to hang him for it. Same with the Hildabeast on that charge.
