Agreed. Sure, there was some great acting by Smith when accepting his award and crying on cue, but the anger was real.

Also, since there was so much emotion there, either there's something going on between the three of them or Smith is having a lot of stress in his marriage. Both could be correct.

Let's be clear: Will is 100% responsible for his actions. He's in conflict and needs to resolve it before he hurts himself any further. There are good and bad people of all shape, sizes, colors, genders, etc within the range of modern human beings. There are no monopolies, many things are trade-offs.

In this case, Jada Pinkett Smith is a bad person and Will Smith needs to break off a poisonous relationship to save his own ass before he hurts himself further.

Even if they lied and said so, which I doubt Rock would do, the Academy would not be amused by all the negative publicity. Instead of talking about the best picture (Coda) most people are talking about Will Smith. That hurts movie ticket, DVD and CD sales. They'd just hang both out to dry for such a stunt that caused so much damage.

Smith needs to save himself.

Will Smith was a role model for many, in just a few minutes he destroyed his carefully crafted image. I thought the slap was staged but apparently not.
