Will JEB! drop out after South Carolina?

Jeb blew it - he could have been the frontrunner, but he was blindsided by how Trump campaigns, and didn't know how to react for a few crucial months there.

It's too bad; he & Kasich are both pretty reasonable nominees on the GOP side, and would have stood a chance in the general. Now, the party is left with the extremists & a complete clown.

There are a number of Republicans, myself included, that don't want another Bush in the White House so he was facing an uphill battle. And I'm not sure what he could have done to divert Trump from the start.

I felt like he didn't know how to react to Trump & all of Trump's namecalling and "low energy" comments. To me, it seems like Jeb has only recently regained his stride & really learned how to fight back while staying on message.

I get the "not another Bush" thing - but he is so different from his brother. It's a shame, really; the wrong Bush ended up serving as Prez. Jeb is much more intelligent & capable.

I agree that many don't want a third Bush, but I think most agree it would be better than a Trump.

I don't like his politics, but I do get the feeling he would have been the best president of the three.

I have nothing against Jeb and I actually like him. I thought he was a good Governor and I like that he's not as extreme as some of the others. It's the idea that the Republican Party can only produce candidates from one family that I don't like. Throw in the fact that his brother and dad didn't exactly set the world on fire as Presidents and you have many of us Republicans looking for someone else.

I don't see them going to Rubio, he is establishment and Carson voters are very anti-establishment.

I disagree. I think Carson voters are conservatives who are a lot like me who would support Rubio or Cruz but never Trump. Time will tell though.

A lot of Carson current/former supporters are evangelicals. Evangelicals aren't the big anti-establishment types.

Generally whatever Jarod thinks is happening within the Republican Party the opposite is actually occurring.

Carson voters seem to me to be unhappy with what Cruz did to them. I think many evangelicals see past Cruz's claims to be evangelical, I just don't know where they are going. I suspect there are not enough of them that we will ever find out.

CAWACKO... I am telling you that Trump is going to win the South Carolina Republican Primary.... Lets see if the opposite happens.

Trump continues to confound me. I refuse to make predictions about him.

After he did his Code Pink thing at the Sat. night debate, I thought for sure he'd drop in the polls; but he went up.

I used to say he'd have no shot against Hillary, but I really have no idea now. He could be President.

Wow...that's kind of a scary thought.

Trump has a huge lead in the polls right now. You're not exactly going out on a limb with that prediction.

You're comment prior was Carson voters wouldn't got to Rubio. That's what I responded to. I made no comment about them going to Cruz.

I do love how easily accepted the fact that Bush lied us into a war is accepted, even in South Carolina and among Republicans.

There was a time saying that would likely put you in physical danger, especially in South Carolina. Now it gets you the Republican nomination.

Well, he actually did.

But the real point is that his years in office so damaged the "Bush brand," it's amazing Jeb even bothered to run at all. After Iowa and then New Hampshire, he'd have been better off just dropping out, if only to save face. He'll never get the nomination. He won't even get close to it.

And that's why I was really surprised when George W. came out of the shadows to try and bring Jeb's numbers up.

W. sent himself into political exile because he knew that the impossibility of putting another Bush in the White House was caused by him. The fact that they dragged him out for the campaign shows the kind of desperation that says they ought to pack it in.
