Why young Democrats love Sanders and really don’t like Clinton

Trump turned out to be prescient with that remark and it had much to do with how it resonated with a lot of people.

I don't think softening the rhetoric would help much if any. If Mexicans want open borders they're going to vote for people who will pander to them. Republicans sadly lack principles on that issue and the principles are non-existent amongst democrats, so conservative republicans are basically hosed on the Hispanic vote.

So might as well do like Trump and tell it like it is, if you're not going to get them anyway.

No question Trump's rhetoric worked with a certain group of people. From a Republican perspective that group of people isn't large enough to win a national election. There are many areas where conservative Republicans and Hispanics have commonalities. That is what should be focused on. That is where inroads should be made.

The other issue is some conservatives don't just want the border closed off they want legal immigration reduced. They are even a smaller subset yet they help contribute to Congressional Republicans refusing to pass legislation reforming our immigration laws.

Trump knew exactly what he was doing when he made his inflammatory statements. The guy is a marketing genius. But doing it the way he did will prevent him from winning.

True. Yet people will argue tooth and nail that the Democratic Party is a working-class party! After all, Marx' Manifesto hit the press only 20 years later in 1848. So how could the Democratic Party have been born of class struggle?

In reality, the wealthy and powerful always dominated the poor who for that reason are also weak. Far from inventing class struggle, Marx simply noted it was there all along. But supposing class warfare wasn't conceived until Marx, the Democratic Party gets a 'free pass' for all its class aggression against working people which [as you correctly note] was there all along, as much as it is with the Republican Party which followed later.

The last labor candidate was Eugene Victor Debs, [1855-1926].

Time will tell lol. So far I've resisted saying Trump won't do this or that. He has to be the most consistently under-rated politician of the last several decades.

So basically, you're saying that people adversely affected by crime or unemployment from illegal immigration can't have a voice. Or maybe, it's politically inexpedient for politicians to give them a voice since it would make them unelectable.

That's kind of screwed up. It certainly makes it easier to understand why certain segments of the electorate like him. No one else has the political gonads to speak for them.

we ought to make it much easier to enter the country for work purposes.......if a person is willing to work and someone is willing to pay them enough that they don't have to turn to the government for support we should give them a green card......

1) to immigrate here legally needs to change;
Like most of our other government agencies it is full of red tape, barriers and delays. It discourages people from doing it legally and pushes more toward doing it illegally

2) we need more work visas; a number of businesses love the cheap labor. So either we reform the system thus allowing us to track who comes into the country or we keep the status quo and people come here illegally and we have what we have today

1) People choose to do it illegally because they don't like the rules. That's an excuse.

2) Typical change the rules because FOREIGNERS don't like them. If we dealt with illegals sneaking in like they need to be dealt with, the smart ones would learn because they didn't like the consequences and the dumbs ones wouldn't. Problem solved. Smarts ones don't make a bad decision and the dumb ones we don't have to worry about any more.
