A homeowner, who police believe was accosted by a neighbor Sunday over yard work, shot killed the aggressor, the Tulsa Police Department said.

Officers were called to the 1200 block of N. Toledo Avenue around 10:30 a.m. about a shooting. Officers arrived to find Blake Williams dead in the back yard of the residence.

Through the investigation and numerous interviews with witnesses and neighbors, officers learned the incident began with the homeowner doing yard work in the front yard. Williams approached him and became aggressive.

According to police, the homeowner asked Williams to leave several times. Williams eventually cornered the homeowner in the garage, began attacking him and cutting him with lawn trimming shears, and a physical fight ensued, TPD said.

At one point, the homeowner managed to get away from Williams, retrieved his gun, and again tried to get Blake Williams to leave, police said. Williams started walking away, then turned and ran at the homeowner, who shot Williams.

Williams died on the scene. TPD detectives questioned the homeowner and he is not under arrest at this time. His identity was not released by police.

I don't believe that the scumbags were out to kill anyone. But after killing my friend, they panicked and killed them as witnesses.

I remember our Police Chief, at the time, had a press conference, and advised people to not involve themselves in crimes they happen to witness, unless they have police training. He said that, "Some people are just not able to pull the trigger when it counts, and the bad guys have no problem with that"!

He said the best thing to do is, get a description, and call 911!

1. making that assumption is the most selfish and stupidest decision EVER. they most likely intended to kill them anyway.
2. cops do not like competition for doing their jobs
3. if you are not ready to pull the trigger, do not get a gun. on that same note, though, stop ridiculing those that are ready, like most of you like to do.

Bigger question is why would a person suffering from a psychosis as yours would even venture out of the house even to cut the grass

If you are police or military trained, that's one thing. But, if you have never actually shot anyone, and most people have not, you may experience a little hesitance to shoot someone yourself.

It's called Buck Fever. Even most policemen and even soldiers experience this phenomena the very first time!

Most humans are not instinctively born killers!

I figure you have military experience. So, I am not worried about you. But man, there are some really unskilled people walking around with guns now. THAT IS WORRISOME TO ME!

Making up scenarios to appear like a tough guy. Have you faced a lot of crazy people with machetes? You are far more likely to get mowed down by an AR before you pull your gun out. But then, the 2nd Amendment gives almost anyone a right to walk around with military weapons, thereby making us all so much safer.
