What evidence do you have that the "no gun zone" was implemented by the RNC?
At first impression I would attribute it to the Secret Service.
Surely a venue with every presidential candidate from one party on the stage would qualify as a "sensitive place" as far as a legitimate possession restriction goes . . .

A presidential debate is only 'gun free' in a sense lol. The only question is how many guns are there and who is Secret Service and who isn't. Not a great choice for a mass shooting attempt.
