Why It's Good To Be A Liberal

There wasn't a single Founding father that was an anarchist and, as has all ready been demonstrated, modern libertarians are anarchist. Our founding fathers were the first liberals....hell they were radical revolutionaries. Get over it dude. No body wants an anarchist in office.
You've yet to demonstrate anything at all. EVERY SINGLE FOUNDER believed in the Libertarian principles:

Small government, limited to the constitution
Fiscal responsibility of said goverment
Freedom to do pretty much whatever the fuck you
Freedom to do the above, without excessive taxation on it
Property rights
A free market (well, one with minimal regulations anyways, no one believes in Laissses Faire anymore)

How does that equate anarchy again?

Strawman!!! See how 3 D supports my claims? Boy you just start practicing your freedoms and the right starts calling you names and making all sorts of irrational and illogical claims.

Oh you almost forgot to state that I also believe the easter bunny is a muslim terrorist and that the Great Pumpkin will save us all from Satan when he arises from the great green sea and how I think we all are sons of the frumious bandersnatch

Seriously? I conjured up a strawperson? Seriously? Seriously Mott? Really? Me, just me? I wasn't already traveling down a road of flailing strawpersons with signs drapped around their necks with idiocies inscribed upon them in pink and purple crayon that read "libertarianism" and "anarchy" or anything when I decided to sponsor one of my own? Seriously? Really? Fuckin' for real, dude?!!?

No, youi've got it ass backwards. The anarchist adopted some of the beliefs of our founding fathers. In our founding fathers time there was no such thing as anarcho-libertarians. I'm reasonably sure that our founding fathers would have been horrified at the anarchist beliefs of modern libertarians and would have summarily rejected them.

I take it you would prefer I called it a "Peanut Butter n Jelly Man"?

Only if its peanut butter and jelly time.

BTW, Thoreau advocated that we should totally isolate ourselves from government and refuse to support it with taxes and service, because then we cannot participate in and be responsible for the immoral things it does, like making war on Mexico and establishing slavery. Perhaps you are are confusing libertarians with Resistance to Civil Government?

I don't believe I've suggested the founders were using time travel to obtain their politcal ideas, so yes, Libertarians are advocating the ideas the founders. Congratulations Mott, would you like a juice box and a gold star for figuring that out? Now we just need to see where anarchy comes into play, outside of your mind I mean.

Because it don't take much of a stretch of the imagination to realize that advocating a self full filling prophecy for failed government, as Libertarians advocate, is the same damned thing as advocating anarchy because the results would be the same. You want to see what a Libertarian dream land is like? Go to Somalia.

So..... you just made it all up?

You call that a rebuttal? Is Pee Wee Herman teaching debate in michigan now?

I'm sure you seen this before, well worth replaying.

No Mott, I would think I don't need to rebuke something so obviously flawed, but I guess I do. You are of Ohioan education after all, and I really hope you see just how badly that system has failed you.

You see Mott, if Libertarians were in fact anarchists, as you love to claim, several things would be different between them. First of all, they wouldn't vote. People who do not believe in government, typically do not participate in it. I would think that logic alone would silence your stupidity, but knowing you, if you were an anarchist, you probably would try to vote.

Secondly, we wouldn't advocate adherence so a system of rules for government. The constitution would have very little meaning to Libertarians if they did not believe in law and order.

Simply advocating that the current government is wasteful and needs to be drastically reduced, =/= anarchy. It equates to a return to the limited, restricted government outlined by our founders in the constitution.

I'll be expecting a bill of sale for your ass, seeing as I now pwn it.

Oh great, now your going to model governance after the writings of an antisocial hermit? Ye gads son! You're making my case for me. LOL

thanks for the somalia strawman. it renders your entire position moot and retarded. :good4u:

You call that weak assed argument a rebuttal? Man sure is looking like I was right about Pee Wee.

Dude if Libertarians aren't anarchist anwer me these questions;

1. What government measures (be specific) do you favor?
2. What forms of taxation would you impose?
3. If it is legitimate and moral for the State to impose taxes for some services, like defense, why is it not legitimate and moral for the State to impose taxes for other services, such as, post office, infrastructure, welfare or public utilities (etc)?
