Who says walls don't work?

We know, thanks to Cuba, Cambodia, Vietnam, Korea, and the Iron Curtain.

Every place we send our military to destabilize and fuck things up for the benefit of our Wall Street/donor/"job creator" class? All Cuba or any Latin/South American nation did to get on America’s frenetic “socialist/communist” list was to toss out US corporations so they couldn’t do there to their people what they do here to ours. Good for them.

The most well-known historical example is the Great Wall of China, which is a more than 5000-mile-long fortification built over hundreds of years by multiple dynasties to protect China from the invading marauders from the Mongolian steppes. By comparison, the border between the U.S. and Mexico is only some 2000 miles long.

What about today? The primary example of a successful wall is the one that protects the borders of Israel. The most controversial part of it was built in the West Bank between 2000 and 2003 after PLO Chairman Yasser Arafat turned down the offer of a Palestinian state and initiated the Second Intifada against Israel.

The wall is about 300 miles long, or 15% of the length of border between Mexico and the U.S. It cost around $2 billion to construct.

The Berlin Wall was a guarded concrete barrier that physically divided Berlin from 1961 to 1989. Constructed by the German Democratic Republic, starting on 13 August 1961, the Wall cut off West Berlin from virtually all of surrounding East Germany and East Berlin until government officials opened it in November 1989.

Before the Wall's erection, 3.5 million East Germans circumvented Eastern Bloc emigration restrictions and defected from the GDR, many by crossing over the border from East Berlin into West Berlin; from there they could then travel to West Germany and to other Western European countries. Between 1961 and 1989 the Wall prevented almost all such emigration.

Estimates are that some 5,000 East berliners made it through the wall to the West

"the fence is no longer considered a major factor in preventing suicide bombings as a terrorist have found ways around it"

The mongols went right into China after they erected the Great Wall. They can slow you down, but nowadays that is all. You can go over, under, around and through a wall, You can boat over in the gulf or the Pacific shore. Perhaps we have to wall off the gulf too. Then we have to stop airplanes. That is how most illegals come in. That will require a very tall wall.

Very true. Do you lock your car and home when you are away?
