Where's The Women?

If there's a market for it.

Huh? if there WAS a profit in giving abortions to poor women, wouldn't someone already be doing it as a private enterprise? And wouldn't they be fighting these laws?

If clinics are effectively banned, not even private clinics will open, especially since there is no profit in it.

I don't know, or especially care, if there is a market for it or not. I'm simply stating that if there is a service people demand, there will be someone to fill the need.

Like the doctor in Philadelphia? the butcher? or at what price?

Abortions need to be affordable, safe, and legal. Sure, women can go to Mexico to get abortions like they used to - but that takes money that poor women don't have. Sure, women could go back to the coat hanger- but that's not safe. Sure, they can go back to the informal networks they used to have that put women in touch with doctors willing to do illegal abortions - that takes money AND contacts.

You don't seem to have studied the issue; perhaps I'm just reading you incorrectly.

You are reading him incorrectly. He doesn't care, since it is not his issue, it is your issue.

You still have way too much debt, and that's all thanks to your beloved Democrat Party:

I laugh at this when the war in Afghanistan costs the same per day as PBS costs per year.

Both parties are spending, but I've determined that the Right spends more in waste or in corporate corruption costs.

Or maybe you can tell me how much money the VIDEO GAME Americas Army has cost the tax payers and tell me why we need it. Another Bush expense that the idiot Right think Obama decided to spend.

My post wasn't to expose the Right by any means, that talk is just as ignorant as "exposing the Left".

I just hate that idiot America doesn't wake up to the expenses and even if they do, they only wake up to their parties exposed expenses. Bias Americans always see a necessity in their parties expense while stating the opposing parties is a waste or even a scandal.

The Patriot Act sure seemed nice though huh. The Right was all about being "patriotic" because they like titles. Then they tried to expose "Obama" for the programs and it backfired.

Politics for party people must be hard to explain. But they aren't if you stop thinking you are in a party. And yes, that includes the Libertarians who think they have it figured out....and are no where near common sense....and try to redefine what common sense is.

Still blaming Bush? Pathetic.

More like, I just don't care. I really have no concern for peolpe getting or not getting an abortion. My wife wouldn't and that's essentially all that matters.

Yes well, that is why women need advocates, and women need to be advocates. Depending on the kindness of strangers is not a good strategy. Luckily, we are pretty good at taking care of each other!

You said it!!! And that's why I don't really care about his opinion of NARAL's choice of fights....

Yeah, that's it.
You don't hate all women, just those that don't know their place as subservient little house wives, whose job it is to cook, clean and stay pregnant throughout their fertile years. Damn those women that want a life of their own and don't understand their roles as mandated by God.

Yes and women are just one big pro-choice voting block right? A gallup poll from 2009 showed 51% identifying as pro-life.

True and untrue. I don't know the poll, but I've never seen one that shows 51% of women want to overturn Roe and actually outlaw abortion. But you're right, many women are anti-choice. There's no doubt. I don't know if you've ever read interviews with conservative women who've had abortions, but their a pip. They even want to be seated in a private waiting room because their case is "different' (isn't it always with them?), not like "those other women" (sluts) in the common waiting room. You should hear the excuses they come up with. But no empathy for the other women in the room. They're not like those dirty girls. I mean it is really stunning.

So is that pro-life? I would say it's just really effing confused.

http://washingtonexaminer.com/poll-more-voters-women-are-turning-pro-choice/article/524231

“This marks the first time fewer than half of the nation’s voters regard the practice as morally wrong in most cases in regular surveying since April 2007. In January, for example, 53% considered abortion to be morally wrong most of the time,” said the pollster.

Those describing themselves as “pro-life,” also dipped, from 43 percent in January to 40 percent now, with 51 percent currently calling themselves “pro-choice.” Of likely women voters, 50 percent are pro-choice, 39 percent pro-life
