Where Have you gone, Joe DiMaggio

What faction of republicans? Establishment, neocons, alt-right, RINO's, or tea party?Could be but they all vote different. So which is it? Can't be all of them.

You have to remember that to some none of us are individuals we are only members of teams or sides. And as such the teams are to square off and be enemies. So the idea of a team winning, and as such demonizing the opposition, is more important than desired policy goals.

A perfect example are Libertarians who have been against the drug war and militarization of the police since day one being considered racist for holding that stance.

Who considers Libertarians racist for those positions since many liberals agree with them, and a lot of Republicans don't believe in racism.

I'm not saying they speak for everyone but TTQ64 in this thread for starters. And she's not alone in the thinking.

you claim that you have this white privilege. So your father would have it too correct?

Without question. North Carolina born in 1939? I'm more than guessing you'd want to be white if they were handing out menus to place an order.

All democratic presidents were racist, except for Carter and Obama. So its rather ironic to hear Democrats complain about racist white republicans like they themselves come from this clean plate

Not sure about your presidential race--0-meter calibration, but I don't think many white Dems claim other than they tend to be much more supportive of civil rights policies, more receptive to complaints about abuse by authority, support aft action at a higher rate, acknowledge disparate treatment in society still exists, etc. and yes, the racists have a huge affinity for your party and in particular, Trump. So it isn't a clean plate or slate or purity as driven snow. It's being purer than Republicans are on the issues that black people care about.

then he only achieved what he did because of his privilege and should be ashamed of it.

I was using TTQ64's scale fwiw.

And disagreeing over policy doesn't necessarily make one racist. There are conservative blacks who write about how Democratic policies hurt the black community. One can disagree but are they self hating for not following the majority?

While I get your complaint, it's up to you whether you post as an individual or say things in lockstep agreement with groups. If you branch out, that difference gets noticed. I think often is the case that people don't tend to criticize other people with whom they have shared other opinions. That's sociology and politics on the internet. Obvious racism by some posters here is a place where I do not excuse anyone for overlooking the opportunity to issue a stern shout down. That would go for several things such as anti Semitic speech or degrading women. Opposition to affirmative action say, does not excuse turning a blind eye to racist epithets or some of the worst race based attacks on Obama with .gifs. And no, it is impossible to be as offensive towards Trump. It's just not the same.

I knew when you went down this road you'd get lost. Of course I'm proud of what he accomplished. But know there must have been little black boys his age with the drive and aptitude who never got admitted to Nc state nuclear engineering in the 1950s because of skin color. Care to disagree?

I'll offer an example. Me: I'm a free market capitalist Response: Racists support free market capitalism so therefore you are a racist

So I'm not changing my beliefs because someone wants to label me a racist just because.

I'm not sure about self hating, and I can question the earnestness and motivation of such a pundit, but giving the devil his due, a logical argument can be made that such programs create a dependency cycle. I have tried to argue that the dependency cycle is created by free enterprise itself, where private parties ordering their own affair according g to their rational self interest is, has, does create winners and losers. An outgroup of humans is a natural byproduct of this system of individual freedom and so it is a moral imperative to provide for people who lose in the system. That case is especially stark when trillions of corporate dollars are just sitting on the sidelines instead of being employed in enterprise that could hire people.

I'm not satisfied with a system where hereditary nests can be feathered in perpetuity and kids can be born dirt poor. It's our system that creates dependency, more so than a welfare check.

You don't think Bill Gates is a capitalist when he is a democrat? But I acknowledge this type of fallacy. That's usually from people who are just getting pissed off. Buying a politician is the purchase of a basket of goods. So if a single item in Trumps basket is nonnegotiable know you are also purchasing the aunt jemima syrup, and that opens you to the charge. By the same token, you will not find anything other than capitalism in the dem platform, notwithstanding feeling the bern tendencies of late. That fallacy is issued constantly by e.g. Big dog and others at me. I'm no communist. I represent banks and commercial lenders. But I agree that consumer protections are very important. I don't know you to be a racists, but u vote for the same potus as they do.

Rana, you asked earlier about people calling Libertarians racist well here's one

The Silicon Valley is a Democratic stronghold yet full of capitalists trying to disrupt industry and change the world.
