When Monkeys Attack

So you openly admit you support a glaring contradiction? And no, it doesn't. Take the time to educate yourself on PTSD. Bigot.

Educate myself. You assume way too much. I know a little about a lot. How dare you presume to insult my intelligence. http://www.fpif.org/articles/excerpt_the_war_comes_home
And yes, you're mentally ill. War did it to you. It's done it to many. Nothing to be ashamed of, but don't be in denial.
I'm not a bigot. I'm a realist. And you're making excuses.

it's humorous to see an anti/pacifist squirm and make idiotic portrayals of someone they don't agree with.

your 'safe bet' isn't safe at all. My moral compass, while not in line with christianity, is just fine for most people. As for compassion, I have tons of compassion for people in need or people who are unable to help themselves.

I actually detest violence and prefer to avoid it if possible. I just happen to be good at it if I need to use it. Not that this will sway your prejudices any.

Not one bit. Nor do I believe you.

Mentally ill and mentally disturbed are two separate things, and you're intelligence is clearly called into question when you cannot explain such a massive contradiction in your statements.

understandable. people with the worst prejudices will never believe anything else but what they want to. THAT is the sad existence. There's a whole wide world of difference out there. It's too bad you're afraid to face it.

Well it has a lot to do with it. for the better part of 1500 years Catholicism was the dominate form of Christianity, as so therefore marks it rather well with regard to 'morality'. I don't need to focus on the Borgias, they simply came to mind first. We could focus on the Anglican founder Henry VIII and his lack of morality, or English tolerance of Catholics in General. For you to mock the religious choice of another is incredibly bigoted and close minded, which goes to show just where your 'morality' lies.

The discussion was hardly religion or religious preference. It was violence as a means of conflict resolution. Just because I'm not bloodthirsty, as some are...doesn't mean that I lack convictions, or want for judicial outcomes. Violence seems to be ingrained in the DNA of "some"...and we have history as a testament to it. You might call it Manifest Destiny, or whatever...the fact remains that Europeans are violent and as bloodthirsty as they make Africans out to be. From Columbus to the KKK....you can't help yourselves.

Oh, don't fret for me...my conscience is clear.

You seem to be arguing somethign that no one is in argument about. Man is a violent animal. You simply turned it to religion when you asked about another posters faith, and suggested he had bad morals because he was not a Christian.

Is it possible for an atheist to have morality? If so, what is it based on? What is the standard? Where does it come from? I understand "faith-based' values. I know nothing of values based on...what?

Firstly not being a Christian does not automatically make you an atheist. Second I don't know, I'm not an atheist. They could base their values on simply compassion and humanity, without the need for a religious subtext. Are you saying that the several thousands years of history before Jesus were entirely lacking in morality?

morality can be based on anything. it's pretty much subjective. It also is a conversation for another thread.

Morality like everything else, changes with time. Compassion and humanity, arbitrarily? From whence? Based on what? How can you, with a straight face, talk about compassion and humanity, and you have blood on your hands? How do you reconcile that? You have no business talking about something where you completely lack credibility.

Excuse me? You have no business to dictate what I may or may not talk about. You are completely lacking in both experience and compassion. How I live with whatever I may have done (or have not done) is mine alone and not something YOU are able to judge. DO NOT BRING IT UP AGAIN.

careful, your prejudicial elitism is showing.

Pardon me...but you opened the door by admitting to being a war vet. With implications. Again, you have no business talking about compassion or morality, when you have displayed none. What hypocrisy. Are you comparing yourself to me? I have killed no one. I'll bring it up whenever the notion strikes me. How do you like them apples. It's not so much fun, when the rabbit has the gun, is it?

Two people telling the other how they can't judge the other. Tell us again, as you judge somebody, how they can't judge you.

You've told people here that if they haven't been in your shoes they could not judge you. If you aren't a hypocrite you may want to give others the same consideration.

So, I'm a hypocrite...sue me. As if others here aren't hypocritical or worse...even you. I don't buy into double standards, and turnabout is "fair play". Don't bring none, won't be none.
