What Underlies the G.O.P. Commitment to Ignorance?

I mostly agree with this, and 100% agree with the spirit. But these people actually have ideas in their heads. Most of them are planted, because coming up with them through critical thinking is beyond them. The few ideas they DO have on their own are akin to the clicks and grunts of cromagnon man. 'Biden bad'. 'BLM riot'. They take those 'ideas' and look for ANYTHING that will reinforce them. The right wing propaganda machine knows this, and spoon feeds them moronic conspiracy theories and half truths to support their guttural belief system. Every single thread started by one of these idiots has its genesis in right wing media or Russian disinformation. 100%. Not one of them has ever come up with an original thread idea that wasn't a trolling exercise. It is what it is.

I share your utter contempt.

it also sounds like you're describing most younger liberals...........of course you'd need to include the ranting about a living wage to cover the beer guzzling and struggling

I did not mention party, though it is abundantly clear from all polling that resentment and suspicion of higher education finds safe harbor in the GOP more than elsewhere.

A 2012 GOP presidential debate, three Republican candidates for president raised their hand in the affirmative when asked if any candidate doubted evolution.

Those were people running to be leader of the free world. How deep does ignorance run in the garden variety GOP base?

An electrician or butcher can certainly be intelligent, interesting, and well read. There are people without university degrees who can discuss the elementary principles of biology and physics and have read classic world literature.

Those people have dignity and active minds.

But they do not strike me as the beady-eyed, slack-jawed rubes who show up at Trump rallies to adore their Orange Demigod.

George W tried to turn his stupid lemons into nice guy to have a beer with lemonade.

I don't want a potus who can drink beer with me and make fart noises, I want one who beats me handily in chess every time.

you mentioned party by specificallly pointing out 'deplorables'..........don't be obtuse about it, just own it.

I'd say the same amount as that that runs in the DNC base.........with Democrats that believe too many Marines would tip over the island of Guam......for starters.

and yet, just like at Biden/Hillary/Beto rallies, i'm sure there are a few of both as well

Aren't elected officials supposed to execute the peoples will, or are they supposed to lead the plebes in to a utopian vision?

Well said. And, I would never hang out with Bush...unless he's buying.

I always felt there was a certain amount of self-loathing wound up with the resentment of higher education.

It is certainly possible to be well read, dignified, and intelligent with just a high school background.

But on the flipside, there are a lot of beady-eyed Deplorables who struggled to barely make it through high school, and then spent the next fourty years guzzling beer and numbing their brain cells and cognitive capacity with a mediocre life dedicated to insignificant and inconsequential pursuits.

I believe this can lead a beady-eyed Deplorable to harbor a grudging resentment of the well educated, the well read, the intelligent person who leads an above-average life.

You're an elitist assjacker.

As everyone knows, leftists hate America’s military. Recently, a prominent left-wing media figure attacked Gen. Mark Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, declaring, “He’s not just a pig, he’s stupid.”

Oh, wait. That was no leftist, that was Fox News’s Tucker Carlson. What set Carlson off was testimony in which Milley told a congressional hearing that he considered it important “for those of us in uniform to be open-minded and widely read.”

The problem is obvious. Closed-mindedness and ignorance have become core conservative values, and those who reject these values are the enemy, no matter what they may have done to serve the country.

GOP is the Party of Stupid.

This simply sounds like a case of you identifying as "smart".

Correct. I can state my positions clearly and defend them. I welcome criticism and can debate. None of which you even try to do. Now write your usual obscenities....

Calling yourself a girl doesn't make you a girl you stupid fucking retard. That applies to other things as well cunt mouth

Last time: What was your assertion?

State it please, without inane personal attacks. Otherwise....ignoring you.

There have been a few:

You have no proof of a republican commitment to ignorance.

You dem fucks propagate ignorance with your censorship and cancel culture.

When confronted, you suck at arguing and run away like a ho.

"Deplorables" claim to be against the Republican establishment, and many of them have claimed to be "former Obama voters".

You can let me know if they were actually lying,

or if you want to backtrack agree with me that Deplorables represent a social group as much as a political ideology.

Closed-mindedness and ignorance have become core conservative values, and those who reject these values are the enemy, no matter what they may have done to serve the country.

The rank and file racists, xenophobes, misogynists, religious bigots, and anti-intellectuals do not control the Republican Party.
They themselves are controlled by the authoritarian oligarchs who need their votes. That's why the former call themselves "freedom loving individualists" as they vote directly against their own best interests,

They are fucking geniuses. There was one leftist retard the other day who stated a thread, that had nothing to do with politics, to complain about people that he said don't talk about politics. You can't make this shit up.
